any suggestions, on how much of a job this is?

cheers

it might just be the rubber cover round it, i had this all that happened was the strap come loose and let the grease out, i think you wouldnt be able to drive if the cv joint went

cheers for the replys, i hope no crap has got into the joint and started to fuk it up!....just need to find somewere to fix it now!

Yeah this happenend to mine only last week, new strap and it was fine. (The rubber may be split but thats not a massive job either)

Nothing major new driveshaft at worst, i'd be more worried about cleaning the grease off and hope it hasn't contaminated the brake pads.

just spoke to renault and they said to replace the cv boot was 2 hours labour, £170 ex vat....sounds steep to me!

You could probably do it yourself. Not that hard. Everything comes in the kit iirc. Or go to a local gay-rage and the'll sort it alot less than £170.

Well thats renault prices, I was assuming you would diy. In which case it'd be £100 for a new driveshaft at least and probably just a new gaiter.

Haha £170

Its about 40 minutes work, i done mine myself!

My inner boot has gone and ive got to change the whole driveshaft :(

booked into another renault, who are only gonna charge me 70....much better than the other ass raping renault dealership

Whats all this £170 b****cks ? The clips snapped on the gaitor thats all , lol . Get a new clip put on , only a couple of quid or a jubilee clip . Repack it with grease first . Its pretty common for the clips to snap , both mine went on my 172 . I drove it for a couple of weeks with no problem .

Stick a 10mm cable tie over the clip on each gaitor and it will hold the clip in place and should stop it from snapping again .

170 because the main Cardiff dealer are rapists...had dealings with them in the past where they refused to honur a warrenty without me getting a letter witnessed by GOD that i was actually a human...dicks

^^^ The moral of the story is " dont " take it to a dealers then , unless you want bummin' very hard . Just take it to a back street garage . It'll probably only cost you around £40-50 .

Happened to my old car, Just the cover burst replacment gove and some new grease set you back around £30 i think i was....

Just been told to replace my CV boot, it needs a driveshaft too, and isn't covered by warranty :(
