Argh this forums annoying! - Help! plz!

  172 cup TT

Howdy all - im a proper noob here plz go easy :) ... right, Just finally yesterday sold my old motor and have been after a Clio Cup for ages... getting the extra loan through tomorrow and going to hopefully get one at the weekend... BUT... my issue is that ive been reading through this forum and there are countless references to having to take your cars back to reno for this that and the other - somepeople like 20 odd times?!!?!.... I think im still going to get one but this has kinda worried me a bit as i dont want the thing to fcuk up every 5 seconds etc... I know every car is different but it seems like most people on here have had very annoying problems that "effect most 172/cups" - Are the 172 / Cups the most unreliable of new sporty cars at the mo? or are there just a few bad ones out there like you get with ANY manufacturer???? can someone put my heart at rest or just tell me not to bother and get somethin else like a Civic, Cupra etc.... thx loads all...

Id say stick with the cup mate, Thats wot I would get if I could afford one. Dont like those Bred Van Civics - too over rated personally speakin.

Cupras are nice cars tho, but id still pick a cup over the Seat.

thanks for both your replies to this - I was just concerned thats all that the thing would constantly be in the garage and stuff.... There are a couple of decent ones for sale at the moment.. one in leicester for 10k and its a 53 reg with 6k miles.. should get that for 9,500.. that ok??

it seems like its a proper fun car and thats what i want... So whats that ball washer all about that you lost? lol

Saw a "brand new uk spec clio cup" at Motorprovider.co.uk for £10866.25 - Have sent them a mail saying ill have it for 10,000 cash.... waiting till tomorrow to see what they say!.. worth a try eh! :) surely cant be an 04 reg!? for that?! hmmm suspicious....

Mines been ace so far, touch wood, and it gets driven pretty hard as its just my toy so yea go for it, u wont regret it, believe me/us lol!

Not had any problems with the 2 172s I have had, touch wood. You either get a good one or a bad one but then that is the case for most cars. Get the Cup if that is what you wanted to begin with, you will NOT be disappointed !

Picked up a 182? You got pics of it?
no hes got a 172 from motorpoint I think, he was going for a 182 but couldnt wait! I am test driving a 182 Cup in artic blue tonight so if the light isnt too bad I will take pics.

The niggly faults youre likely to encounter are far outweighed by the sheer pleasure of driving the thing!!

And the fuel conumption is amazing, which means you can drive it whenever you feel like it....whereas a turbod Leon / Ibiza are going to be crap on fuel if you boot it...and the Type R is supposed to be very thirsty too!! These cars arent as fun to drive either.

Cup all the way my son.

At work - shush :)

Nice - Thanks all for those comments - good load of people on ere cheers...

Great, gonna go for the cup then.. woo!.. cant wait... Thats good news about the Petrol too! - My Calibra V6s engine was proper thirsty.. Actually Ive just sold it to the Chairman guy of clubcalibra.net last sunday - i havent looked myself but bet itll be on there somewhere with my mods.. aww, bless the ol bird... well onwards and upwards - at least the cup wont act like a boat round a roundabout :)

Cheers again all...

Nope youre right it wont, itll be all lift off oversteer and chuckability. The handling is one of the joys of Cup ownership, coupled with sheer pace - its big cheesy grins every mile.

just watch those pesky curbs, else all your wheels wont be pointing in the same way. Not that im missing my Cup or anything but the Ka just isnt the same
