Assetto Corsa modding (PC)

Playing AC with a pad is pretty crap, imo. The main appeal to me, is that as far as I'm aware, it's the only production-spec racing game that features the Mazda 787B. I bought it for that car alone.

AC is amazing for the huge amounts of plug-in and add-ons. However for a better racing experience, ACC is pretty hard to beat. Get a half-decent wheel & pedal combo and you won't look back.

G920 any good as a starter PC wheel? It needs to desk mount, I don't really have the room for anything crazier.

It’s such a great sim, I get endless fun from it. Whether it’s cruising around Tokyo or flying down the Mulsanne in an LMP1 or trying to wrangle a classic Alfa up Goodwood hillcllimb, it’s all possible and all great fun.

Caved.

Bought Asetto, downloaded a load of mods and just ordered a G920. F*ck my lack of self restraint. If I really get into it then I'll look at that Fanatec when it comes out.
Make sure you have a dabble at the Highlands Long circuit that's inbuilt in the vanilla Assetto Corsa. It's actually one of my favourite circuits in a racing game.

See what you think about Assetto Corsa Competizione if/when you buy that. ;)

I may well have a dabble. So no mods but overhauled visuals/physics?

Yeah ACC isn't designed to be moddable as it's intended to be a serious E-sports title so modding support just allows people to cheat.

TBH I think some of the stuff done to Assetto is better than what Kunos themselves managed for ACC, but it is very good.

Decent.

I've found loads of cars where their models/physics are just BAD. You really have to sniff out the good ones.

Any that you lot would recommend other than what's posted already in here?

Yup. Get the original Assetto Corsa Deluxe edition with all the DLC.

Then....
https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html
Content Manager, way better than the stock launcher and will allow infinite number of cars (stock launcher breaks if too many cars)

Ilja Jusopov’s Patreon - guy is a bloody genius, transforms Assetto with Custom Shaders Patch. Don’t have to pay for it (Content Manager comes with the free version) but the latest cool s**t like rain etc are Patreon only for the moment

https://discord.gg/fM8zVzP
Sol - advanced weather system for Assetto, if you’re using the Custom Shaders Patch betas then you’ll probably want to use the betas on this discord, otherwise the public stable version of Sol is on Racedepartment.

Glad you’re having fun with it. The SRP cars are great but I’ve got an update for their MR2 stuck in content manager because their google drive quota got exceeded

Any idea on where I can get that R32 from in the OP?

It's a video and the thing sounds bonkers.

Afraid not. You could try various ones off of Assettoland but they tend to be a mixed bag of shite with some okay stuff.

Time for another load of screens...

My new favourite LMP1 was released this morning, well, it's my favourite LMP1 IRL anyway, but there's now a decent version of it in Assetto Corsa thanks to VRC. Awesome thing and sounds great too.

I went on a bit of a download binge last night, that's another 3gb in the folder now.

Updated the SRP cars, found a Cleland-era BTCC Cavalier, some really good NSXs and a few other race models.

Also I bought ACC, really enjoying the career mode in that and you can tell the physics improvements (plus it works with Trueforce on the G923 which AC doesn't)

Have you got just ACC itself Chris, or the DLCs as well?

ACC and all the DLC. Really good but the modding aspect of AC means I spend a lot of time there tbh.

I've been trying to get the hang of drifting lately. Slowly getting there! Shitty quick YT vid

Does anyone have a link to a 2019/20 F1 model that's decent?

All I can seem to find is skins rather than the actual model!

I assume most will have seen this, or similar? Those sales figures of the original AC.... I never knew it was that popular?

Yeah, I don’t think they’ll be using UE5 for it though, apparently the devs thoroughly hated using UE4 for Competizione as they couldn’t tweak as much as they wanted at the engine level.

Hopefully it retains the moddability as it’s obvious from AC1 how much it’s helped sales, but also just how much it allowed the game to improve and grow as well as gain in popularity. Backwards support with AC1 mods would be epic.

That would be (I assume?) - a key requirement of the AC2 development. They will clearly realise that the modding community was a big influence on the number of copies sold.

To be able to support the vast back catalogue of content would be a big incentive for modders to buy AC2 alone.
