Attaching harness to rear strut brace?

Just wondering, after xmas im putting in buckets and harnesses and was wondering if its safe to attach them to a rear strut brace??

If they are mounted to the floor, "apparently" you can get spine damage in a crash as it pulls you donw into the seat. Better to have them as horizontal as possible, Ie the upper rear belt mounts.

Jus finishing the colour coding, last side strip went on today. My 182 front bumper is on its way, and gonna be riding much lower by monday :rasp:

182 bumper? are you modifying it to fit your arches or getting sport arches and skirts too?

jus gonna put it on a diet to fit in and get replica skirts. As for the wheels dunno at the moment. probably jus gonna refurb them in black and save for a set of 16's at some point

Is that set up a good idea? I thought the belts are meant to go perpendicular to the seat back, so the force on each strap would be equal in a crash.

Agree with the apparently bit. Mark fish and a lot of other experienced people that set-up track cars mount them to the floor...

Yeh i just seen the picture it looks good. What is your paint code 632? same as mine i think. How much are you paying for paint?

When i have been working for my dad i had to put a few bumpers on cars and the part where they meet the wings never seemed to sit right so we would just line it up and put some screws through on the inside into the wing. Always perfect afterwards.

yerrr its gris boreal 632. pay £9 for 500ml spray can which is pretty good. Perfect match as well. Yer thats wot i reckon i will end up doing, getting rid of the clips then screwing the whole thing in and straight

Seems an awful lot of effort to allow you to keep the skinnier front wings - why wouldn't you just buy some sport wings from a scrappy - 247spares.com for example?

Interesting how much wider the sport front wings are huh? Wonder if the same goes for the rear...

Its not worth the money buying 2 new wings, getting them fitted, then sprayed when you virtually gain an inch or so on each side.

what money? get a pair of wings (erm, in the correct colour) from a scrappy for next to nothing and fit them yourself.

"Only gain an inch or so on each side" ?? It's that extra width that lends the Sport such a square, agressive stance compared to the standard clio!

If you're going to hassle of sourcing a sport front bumper, you might as well get the wings while you're at it. Looks wrong otherwise - like those guys who fit M3 front wings to an E46 Beemer, ignoring the fact that the rear arches don't match

Will still need spacers mate. the RS's run a wider track than the non sports. totally different running gear.

ah yeah you're right, spacers it is then - or new alloys with the appropriate offset.

With the price of 1*2's right now though I can't see too many people doing this though to be honest.
