ATTENTION 182 OWNERS..IMPORTANT

  Shhh

Have you had your car serviced.? 12k, 24k,36k service.?

I had mine in today into Sunderland Renault and they did the service. Upon collection of the car, i checked what was ment to be done against the service manual (inside first few pages) and it says on a 12k service the oil filter, air filter and cabin filter should be changed. This is ment to be changed on every service, as every service is a 12k service.

I asked the person on the desk who seemed to think it was a 72k job. I them showed him the manual and it them it become apparent he did not know it needed changing. Then the dealer had none in stock. This was left off the invoice for the service, so no mention of it being done, or being required.....

So, if you have had your 182 serviced, check the invoice and with the dealer too see if they changed that all important Air Con (Cabin Filter)...!

Imagine the stink you could make if they have not done it, i think free goodies....

renault are just utterly clueless when it comes to the RS range, that goes for sales as well as service!

Renault dealers, are rubbish. Most anyway. I found one that did what they shoudl. Even saved my old ones so I could see how dirty they were. and they were!

12K = oil and filter, air filter and cabiin filter.

some dealers only did oil and filter change so i told them to get stuffed.

My brother had his 12k mile service a few weeks ago at Toomey Renault in Basildon! BE WARNED! He watched as a mechanic walked over to his 182, sat on his bonnet, and started eating a sandwich!! and whilst neither of the 2 mechanics were in any hurry, laughing and joking about when they were meant to be servicing his car! My brother also supplied his own oil for the service (as they have been known to put the wrong oil in before!) and they put the dripping oil container back in his car in the passenger footwell right on top of his new leather jacket!! It ruined the jacket, and then he found where the machanic was sitting on his car, there was a scratch about an inch long! THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT 182 OWNERS!

The manager there had a sore ear afterwards!

Yep they changed my cabin filter, think it was about £15 on the invoice. They did wrongly tell me that the air filter didnt need changing anyway at 12k when I mentioned I didnt want them to touch mine...

Apparently they put Magnatec in the engine which i find amusing. I cant have my top up kit as they dont stock them, so next time im up this area i have the filter installed and a top up kit supplied too me.

I always thought the Clio 182 (being 2.0 16v) ran on 5w40 oil and not the 10w40 that the 1.2 16v runs on. If im given a nice bottle of 10w50 ill be asking why is that so, and surely i should have 5w50 as the manual states. I never knew Castrol Magnetec was made in a 5w40 form.

Surely someone now will prove me wrong.

I did get the 182 12k service for £206.00 (tho its on 24k now)

As what i thought. I thought about questioning the oil they put in too. Lets hope they put the wrong oil in, then i can see what they think should be done about that.

Imagine there faces when the realise the shock horror of the thing when i explain too the service manager that the car has done 2,000mile on the wrong oil.

When im next up the area i was told too come in and collect the oil. The invoice stated nothing of what type of oil was fitted too the engine. Maybe worth ringing and asking on Monday, and when they will have the stock in. Maybe they could put it aside for me.

Oh, the service was ment too be £250 but they price matched it too Lookers Renault Chester price of £206.34.

i have checked with total/fina/elf they say 10/40 is sufficient for the UK climate and can easily cope with the demands of the 2.0 and 3.0 clios

so dont panic....:)
