Audi S1 Quattro

It's new!, not quite an A1 quattro but with a remap it will be insane. They've grown on me a lot as I quite like small nimble cars. 3 door in Yellow with full spec for me!

I don't like the yellow. The black makes it look like a faded Dakar yellow. But I am quite tempted by one as a Panzer replacement when they come out.

That's pretty cool. Bit of a birds car though no? I can't really comment though, driving a clio and all that. I only ever see fake tanned bimbos driving them

Looks terrible in that colour combo but will no doubt look good on the road.

2.0L T with 230bhp? You know that'll map well.

Easily 8PS3 territory i.e. 265 ish. But with breathing mods I'm willing to bet close to 300 is achievable. What turbo is it? K04?

Looks awful in the colour combo but no doubts will look good in different colours and better in person.

RSQ3. Love how Audi are just making everything they have S and RS!

  Ph1 Clio V6, Ph2 172
When i read the title, i thought it was going to be a real S1 Quattro not some soft little 4 pot.

Needless to say it looks quite nice just not in yellow.

They haven't actually said as far as I know. With the standard power and torque I'd guess it'd have to be a K04 tbh.

I would be seriously interested when they come out.

A small, 4x4 2.0l Turbo hot hatch. It's about time someone did it again.

Flol! Love Yellow cars these days! So much more interesting in the right sport guise!

I love it, little pocket rocket.

Agreed. It's very tempting and seems well priced..for an Audi.

Big thing for a lot of people is that the power will be easily handled with the Quattro system and the potential to tune will be huge since the engine will be pretty solid. I think it will
be a hit when it comes out

I also think it should look much more like the A1 Quattro (maybe relegate the turbines to an optional extra as to not offend non-Audi enthusiasts) and less like an attention-grabbing concept car.

  Listerine & Poledo
Rather an Ibiza Bocanegra and pour the change into a Mk3.5 MX5.

At least then I'd have 1 car that didn't put the driver into a coma

Wow.

All that money and a power to weight ratio that a decent enough Clio 172 could match, and that's before we get to the current crop of lightweight hatches, most of which would hand it its bhp/ton ar*e.

But it's got an S in the name, and it's an Audi, so it must make sense LOL

Hateful little thing.

5.7 to 60 and 155mph as standard? Oh and over a 100 ft/lbs more torque. Hardly Clio 172 pace. Oh and care to share the official weight of them? Audi apparently haven't released that yet.

Of course, how stupid of me. 0-60 and top speed is everything right?! :S

I worked on the weight of the A1 Quattro which is 4wd - they come in at 1,430 kgs - which is only a shade lighter than the 51-plate V6 Mondeo I ran - that was a barge!

Light and nimble this Audi is not. Underpowered for its weight relative to it's direct competition it is.

Well no but it shows its not slow and both figures are outside of a what standard 1*2 will do. Does the 100ft/lbs more torque make a difference? Or the fact your judging on a peak BHP and you don't know what its like through the rev range or when it makes peak power? Of if it has overboost? Bit like the 179bhp from a fiesta ST? ;)

And you are comparing the weight from a different car and making assumptions. Sounds fair.

As much as I respect Mark's driving abilities, Tom, there is no point arguing with him on this. It is simply a Quattro versus Renault/Ford hot hatch disagreement that will go on and on. Much like the VXR vs M3 thread, but with less swearing/idiots.

I'm not saying a 172 would beat it in any scenario, more that despite a decade of evolution, one of the key measures of performance has not moved forwards at all from a rattly old French hatchback.

I'm sure it'll drive really well (inevitable understeer excepted), but unless Audi have come up with some way of re-defining the laws of physics it's going to feel like a 1,430 kg car when its body size would suggest it should be, and all similar rivals are, 200kgs less. Hence its modest power output not really being enough.

Different car? Not relevant?

I used the kerb weight of an A1 Quattro, the same basic power unit, same bodyshell, same basic 4WD system. Unless this new one is covered in carbon fibre, the weight's going to be all but identical. Isn't it?
