Autoleads help!!!!

Car  1998 BMW e46 323i
I bought this off a member on here, it's for my 172...

(I've got a Sony stereo).

Smartlead adaptor
pc9-112
Renault with display to sony head unit.
batch ref 3188.

I thought it would hook up to my loom and then to the stereo, but it looks like this hooks up to the positive feed and to the dash display itself,..

So, how do I fit this?

(P.S. Thanks to Big JTS for actually being a proper seller, and not a flamin' rogue).

You have to remove the dash and the red plug clips into the back where the old steering control is. (behind the radio display)
The jack plugs into the Sony radio, and the +ve is taken from the radio power supply.

Didn't you get any instruction with this item?

Cheers for that. That's what I was dreading. And no, didn't come with instructions.

Is there an easier way????

In other words can I bodge it?

I have a Sony remote control, steering AND infra red! Just thought I'd use the OEM remote cos it's easier to use and looks better.

Fubar is a legend, I've just read his guide on dash removal. Looks easy enough.

Although the screws under the steering wheel don't need to be undone as the top just pulls away, if you pull it up from the wheel side.

Do these at work all the time easy peasy :)

Watch the little back caps and screws in the ends they always fall out just remove them before you life the dash out, prevents them from dropping out and down the back of the remaining dash :rasp:

Fitted the adaptor today (courtesy of the legendary FUBAR guides), took less than an hour. 20 mins of which was me wrestling the dash off the bulkhead. It's really simple to fit, and works well.

after 2 whole days use, the thing has started to switch my head unit off. Half the buttons when pressed switch it off! I'm baffled. It was fine...
