Automatic stuck in 3rd gear?!

Hi guys,

Has anyone got a clue why it would be doing this??

Selecting any gear using the level and it will still only drive forwards in third gear. A little awkward when you're doing hill starts and going on 45mph!!

Reverse is as normal.

I'm guessing it's to do with a orange light on my dash; a bit like a box with a squiggle through it....what does this mean...and how do i get it to naff off!!

The car, btw, is a 1.4 Mk1 RT

If it looks something like this then thats the immobilser, but personally mine wont even start if thats flashing.

yes, thats the one that is constantly on.
I'm fine driving about and starting, just stuck in retchid third gear!! grrrr
