Aux belt screach

  Oyster Card
I assume it's the Aux belt?
Mainly only happens at night when I've got my lights on even more so when the blowers on.
It will pretty much always screech for a couple of seconds upon start up no matter the time of day but at night it does it sometimes when doing along also notable when changing down gears.
Think it does it more with my amp and sub on which is 3000w so the more power used the more chance of it doing it.

Does anyone know how much it's going to cost to get it sorted, is there anything I can do to stop the noise for now?

depends on the engine on E types the alternator is on the back of the engine between block and bulkhead. take off front drivers wheel, jacking the car a decent amount on axel stands as well, reach from below and loosen the alternator pivot bolt and the higher adjustment bolt. lever the alt. away from the engine to tighten the belt, then tighten the adjustment bolt and the pivot bolt.

sounds more than it is but will only take 20mins or so and will save you a bit- get a Haynes, worth it for stuff like this!

Same pricipal on most clio mk1s except F type engines, just the alt. is in different possitions, Dom

Sounds as thoguh its just slipping abit tbh, mine does it when its cold, esp int he mornings when its damp, just a 2 second job to tighten it up a tad

Jeez, that complicated to tighten the bolt on a 1.2/1.4??

Its 2 bolts and adjust the nut ont eh RSi, from the top of the engine

Yeah mate was doing it big time tonight as it's cold as anything, bloody old grumpy from down the road came out and gave me some stick for it.

So can you describe in laymans terms where it is, looking at the engine from under the bonnet I can see two belts either of them the aux belt?

If it helps it's a 1.4 Energy Engine with PAS etc..

Not 100% familier wiht the 1.4 engine tbh, best way is to get a ahyens,m will give you a step by step guide.

It will be the one at the front drivers side
