Q: Does the Aux Belt simply run the AC? So if you don't use the AC could u wait a bit longer before changing the Aux belt?

It can take out the cam belt if it goes so if needs doing get it done.

water pump is usually run off the drive belt,
not using air conditioning wont make much difference,
its stipping at the same rate as the revs, reducing the load might made a slight difference, but i would risk it
also rubber perishes at a standard rate,
and if it snapps, it will cause havok with everything in the engine bay,

It drives power steering and water pump as well. If it goes it can take the cam belt with it.
Best to stick to the stated intervals.

just to confirm, (as i have my manual in my hand) renault say they dont need changing unil 5 years or 36,000 miles
