Aux belt

I am planning on doing aux belt and tensioner as per my service schedule but wanna know if its linked in with timing of vehicle or not. Will I need to lock timing in TDC or not? Also is water pump in timing belt circuit or aux belt circuit?

its a ph2 172 btw

its not linked with timing no. and yes water pump is within the aux assembly.
has the car had the timing belt kit replaced before as if it hasnt that needs doing aswell ideally.

aux belt is seperate to the timing belt, don't need to lock anything, water pump is aux driven

Aux belt is not linked to the cam belt! water pump runs off the aux blt. Aux belt is a bit of a b**ch to do just make sure you replace the belt, tensioner and bottom pulley.

cheers for quick replies guys...... and yes timing belt has been done prior but its time for aux belt on service schedule.
