Average time to sell your Clio?

I spoke to Steve ^^^ hes owed 11k on that car-
S

and this is the problem , he is more likely to shift that at 9995 , which leaves him a grand out of pocket but i don't see it being worth much more in the current market .

i found a few 09 plates with all the toys and lower milage for under 9.5k

what it owes him and what its worth have nothing to do with each other in reality and mods are worth zero to resale in a lot of cases .

If I was in the market for a Mk.3 Clio, I'd be more tempted by something like THIS

Even factoring in belts and new suspension

Well I was going to put it up at £1600 with full text and 6months tax does have 120k but has engine rebuild plus a few "choice" mods new Aux belt, tyres etc..

Realistic price I think?

I have never failed to sell a car on pistonheads within a week , but then it depends on car type .

do your homework and sell for a realistic market value , forget the 10k you spent on mods as they mean very little in most cases despite what CS will argue ,and you will sell .

put it this way , i sold our mint 205gti for 100% profit after 4 years of owning it in 24hrs , and sold our sport 160 elise , for 200 quid less than the dealer advertised prices of the other 2 that were for sale in 48hrs ...

but then sales is my job , and trust me i wouldn't want to sell cars full time , let alone wanting to sell for profit .

although those that i personally know who do have a very nice lifestyle , and houses .

Yeah i'm not daft enough to think the £k's of mods make it worth that.. hence I removed most of the bolt on stuff ;)

So i'm thinking PH, Autotrader and maybe Ebay classified is best bet?

but then sales is my job

Same. Never had any trouble selling any cars/parts, etc. Just price them correctly and they go within a few days.

If something is special, it can command a higher premium, if its not, ie a standardish 1*2/standard 197+200 the only thing that will make it stand out is the (low) price. If the car is modified, put it back to standard, you will ALWAYS make more money, & make the car easier to sell.

I put the car everywhere, so all the forums i use & PH as its free for me still. If its still around them, it goes on eBay, but most of the time ive sold a car within a couple of days. Usually to mates that have been after said car for a while ...

write a good advert , any salesman is only as good as the advertising that brings him the leads/punters ......

send us a punter we will give you a sale , your advert gets him to ring you .

do your homework , run it past a couple of people who may have an idea if they think its good or bad

oh also

people could not give a flying f**k if its only been run on the ***** juice of virgins so please please please don't put that in your advert .

ps this is how not to sell a car

Oh should I change the title on the ad then ;)

Just generally wondering if it's worth putting it on autotrader?

Are people put off by an advert with too much info? Have done a draft on word and is nearly 2pages long..

I think £10,995 is perfectly reasonable for mine.

Good spec and a very rare colour.

It should sell soon.

There's no point asking the average.

I could list my car at £950 and it would be sold by dinner time. Or I could list it at £2k and hope that someone would pay a lot for low miles. The first is a realistic/cheap price. The latter is way too expensive and I'd spend everyday pointlessly bumping the thread and dropping the price by £5.

Cars don't sell because they're too expensive. Which is why you've had no interest.

  Fiesta ST200
I should get some at £10,995 though surely?

Judging by the other stuff that is for sale privately...

Well if I was looking for a 200, to me, you're looking a bit desperate.

It was £11,400 two days ago. It's now £10,995.

That's not a lot to knock off in the grand scheme of things.

So I'd either be waiting to see what the next two days brings with another price drop or going in with a super low-ball offer.

The fact it's a rare colour isn't really a factor I don't think. It's not stand-out rare like Alien Green. It barely looks any different to the other white unless you get them side by side.

Considering this is the second thread you've made about the price of it, I think you are.

Working out a price isn't rocket science.

  Fiesta ST200
Just looking for an opinion that I never got in the first place. I thought that was what a forum is for?

Inpatient is a better word. The car sells itself.

Perhaps return it to standard and sell the parts, would help you lower the price further....

Spec is no where near mine though.

And mine is the same money.

I'd rather OEM and recaros to aftermarket and regular seats so, from my perspective, your spec is nowhere near this.

Also, for some people they'd prefer to buy from a garage than private, they can probably sort out finance/part-ex, maybe get some sort of warranty etc. and expect to pay a premium over going private.

Don't get me wrong, yours is a nice vehicle but if you want shot then you'll have to lower your expectations. Maybe forget mentioning the mods and just refit the standard stuff.

You'll attract a wider range of people as there wont be the offputting thought of someone else modifying the car and the inferences that gives off. As mentioned above you'll probably get to sell the parts on here anyway and make a few quid back too.

  Fiesta ST200
That is an option.

The other white one is killed by a few things. Grey bumper inserts, no spoiler, no speedlines. Not an attractive looking 200.

I will see how it goes anyway now. Wait until the adverts expire :)

for a start you need to be 500 quid or more cheaper than a dealer like for like , thats the whole point of a private sale , the mods will put people off especially on a newish car .

if that went on pistonheads at 9995 you would have calls if not have sold it by now , you have not had a sniff at a grand and a half more , and believe me you need to get your price right first time , as people will notice the price drops over a few days and either hang on or wonder whats up with it

whether you believe it or not is up to you .

Sold my 1995 MR2 in April witihin a week, had loads of calls.

Bought a 58 plate albi 197 with cup pack and 43000 miles for £6k, it'd been on sale for several weeks.

Had my 3.2 V6 advertised for 3 weeks without a bite and it's cheap!

Market is wierd at the moment.

Ian.
