took the new aerial out and gave contacts a good clean. reception is still w@nk.

The base of the aerial seems secure, and I don't fancy ripping out the headlining to have a look-see.

Can anyone suggest a cure?

mine suffers from this too, usually dependant on weather (worse in summer :S ). The bloke I had look at mine said it was an intermittent fault and would probably mean replacing the aerial base/cable or both :( It's fine 99% of the time, I think high pressure seems to affect it!

I had a problem with my radio not holding stations or every station would play Radio1 when I started the car each morning. Took it to Renault as the car was under a year old and they have removed the radio and told me it would go for repair. They are now saying I can have a brand new replacement and I can drop in at anytime and they'll fit it for me.

would it be advisable to buy a replacement tunerlist h/u off've fleabay?

I'm gonna be stuck with two h/u's if the fault is elsewhere... And, how much should I pay for one of these?

Cheers chaps

Just a quick update:

(BrianR was pretty much on the money)
Today I yanked the headlining out and removed the aerial base from roof, scraped and polished contact surfaces and refitted. Job's a good'n'. Pain of a job, but worth it.
