Clio 172, Flame Red
Ay up everyone!
Newbie to clio life but having recently purchased a admittedly, slight dog of a 172 figured id join here, its a 52 plate flame red 172 on 144K with a 42k 182 trophy (apparently) engine and box fitted to it, car already had a handful of mods already on it and minimal arch bubbling, and i really do enjoy cars that are a actual "colour" hence my draw to this car, sadly its had a bit of a, sad past, its been cat S in 22 from what im going to assume is a rear crunch cause the boot floors painted black and has signs of bodging going on, but hey the price reflected this, and it drove fantastically!
that was right up untill the clutch exploded leaving it with no drive, somehow its not putting power through, cant get it in gear with the engine running, but if you turn it off put it in gear, it rocks the engine, its a very strange failure mode but these things are sent to test us.
my main thing has been classic volvos having had 22 of them (no i dont have a problem honestly) but you eventually learn that even the fastest 940 turbo you can build will get pissed on by a sorted 182 (as my mate did, and left me for dead) but the theatre of the 172 really grabbed me so now its become the new project, Project Cat S to Cat Shiny. below is some of the original advert photos and then a few photos of its brief very very gentle outing at Donnington, and now where it sits in the naughty corner awaiting me to get a clutch for it, and probably the belts and all that jazz because its been just under 4 years since they were done, if im dropping things, its all getting done.
