B&M Quickshifts - Worth It?

Hmm...that video on BB website does look quite awkward...i never had any issues with the one i had in my mk1 megane. :-s

I think a lot of the problems are that since the original lever gives more leverage, it can mask a lot of poorly fitting components...slapping the short throw on will show up these issues as well as generally requiring more effort to move. Like i said, i never had issues on my megane but that had done 45k...maybe by that point all the box/shifting components are well worn in and manfacturing/casting inaccuracies are worn away?

I could be interested in a group buy situation for a B&M

Would prefer a go with one first though... anyone north east based got one fitted?

ive noticed the difference on my 182....deffo shorter change..and i dont have any probs really with 5th or reverse......and also they look fab.i chose to get one due to deciding not to do any heavy mods on the 182 and these are really just an "alteration"-lol rather thaan a mod.....my views 9/10

If you want, cut the bottom of the shifter and weld in a 2" length.......tada.......quickshift.

Best to use large gauge tube to sleeve the ends for better strength and alignment.

I'd be interested in a gp buy also...I'm getting one next month regardless...Rick only did 20k mine in his 172 it's was an 03 plate and he solf it 6 months ago.

Just to clear up a few points.....

The gear change is NOT notchy on the MB engineering shifter and there is NO trouble getting the car in or out of any gear.

The MB Shifter DOES reduce throw further then the B&M shifter.

The MB shifter is TALLER then the B&M so you dont have to lean over for the further gears.

Anyone not convinced is more then welcome to pop down and see us. We have a B&M fitted to a Renault 19 16V (same as Clio etc) and an MB fitted to a 182 so people can see & feel the difference between the two.

Or could could just leave it standard and spend the money on something that actually benefits performance.

  EK9 + Mfactory gearing..
BBT Dave you will prob be bias toward your own but what are your opinions on the B&M, eg feel/gear change & wear & tear issues?
