Back in a Renault. 2 Clios and a R5

  Clio IV 0,9 Tce
Hi guys

You probably don't remember me. My name is Dennis, i am from Denmark. I used to be on here with my old Valver. That is the one car i really regret selling.

After selling this, i've been through various cars. A Dax Rush (well a german built Mohr Rush, almost same car). A Lotus Europa S2 with a 1600 Renault Crossflow engine. Made around 160 hp in 700 kg of car. It was a crazy thing, when it worked. After this i had a 1994 Corvette, stroked to 6,2 Litres (383 cui) and six speed manual. Made 450+ hp and 600 nm. It was an Autobahn missile, and we had some great trips both to Spa and to Nürburgring. But it just somewhat lacked character, there wasn't much exotic over it.

For everyday cars i had a Seat FR 200 hp petrol, which was a great car, that i almost never drove, as i was travelling a lot with work. so that was sold and i got an old Fiat Punto, which i had for 4 or 5 years (i know what you are thinking).
However a year ago i started working permanently in Denmark, and i was lucky that some one rammed to Punto. So i figured it was time for a new car and it had to be a Renault again. I bought (my first brand new car ever) a new Clio IV o,0 Tce. It has all options, and is a great car, very cheap to own and drive, which is great here in Car hating Denmark.
(I only have a pic of this together with my Vee, from when i went to buy the Vee)

I've always had a soft spot for the Renault 5 GT Turbo, at least since my friend owned this:

And in between owning the Lotus, i also has a Mini Marcos project. This was one of 50 cars built, homologated for Racing. They drove on Le Mans in 67-68, and after this they had to homologate it with 50 cars, mine was one of these. I was planning on using it for Hill Climb, but i had to realise that i'd never get it done.

But as mentioned, i really like the R5 GTT. So after some time, i was bit by the Hill Climb bug again, and i figured that a R5 GTT, would be perfect for this. So i started to look, there were some Group N race cars for sale for +10.000 Euro. And normal road cars that needed everything for Hill Climbing started at 5000 Euro's. Then by total chance, my friend (who used to own the R5 above) and i, we came across this R5 GTT ph1 at a Hill Climb event in Denmark. I barely said hello to the owner, before he asked me if i wanted to buy it. In the meantime i had sold my Corvette, and i sold it VERY well. So i figured why not. I ended up paying around 4000 Euro, for a fully prepped car. It looks a little rough, but is very sound, with no rust what so ever. I also got quite some spares with the car. Extra engine, gearbox etc.
This is when we saw it the first time.

This is after i got it home, and tidied it a little up.

The Car is running very strong, with only some minor issues to fix. It has a dyno showing 131 hp. So it finally seems like i will be Hill climbing next year.

As mentioned, i sold my Corvette. And i actually figured that the R5 GTT would be enough for fun. But i probably knew by myself, that that wasn't going to be the case. Within one week of selling the Corvette. Once again by chance, i fell over one of my alltime dreamcars. I was actually browsing for a Clio Williams, but found a Clio V6 ph1 for sale in Denmark. I knew i had to have it. I actually bought it from the same guy, who sold me my Lotus. Furthermore i think i made a VERY good deal on it. It isn't no where as fast as the Corvette (obviously), but this car has all the factors i love, which the Vette didn't. It is rare 1513 cars built, mine is no 403. It is totally bonkers and quite exotic.

My car has quite an interesting story. It was sold new in Italy, then exported to Japan. After this it came to the UK, from where it came to Denmark.

Cheers mate. I've been thinking about that myself. My plan is to do some hill climbing next year almost as the car is now. If i get bitten by it, i might want to upgrade the car.
It would probably get repainted, still in silver, possible upgraded to ph 2 bumpers and colour coded side trim. Wouldn't fit the stickers again then. Looking for a set of Compomotive MO5 flat fives for it. But must be 15". They are quite hard to find.
Anyways first i am doing some smaller jobs to the Vee. I want another exhaust on it, for a bit more sound, and also because the muffler is very visible on a ph 1.
Furthermore it is getting a full detailing and possible repainting some small areas. The wheels are also getting refurbed. I've seen some pictures of a few cars with Recaro Pole positions fitted. I am really tempted about this.

150% of a Cars value. Makes the Clio V6 a bit difficult, as there's none other than mine in Denmark. Then they will compare to Similar cars in for instance Germany.

Yeah it is crazy. My V6 is as far as i know the only on registred for the road here in Denmark. So quite a rare car here.
