Has anyone managed to re dye it? They tend to get faded and look rubbish just wondering what people have to to counter this?

The 2 172's ive owned it had all started to crummble so make sure its sound first.

I gave mine a light coating of black spray paint, made it look brand new!
WTF is it still doing on there? Its heavy ;)

I cannot see it affecting the brake lines... As the sound proofing has no heat properties at all?!

It literally dropped to bits when I removed mine

I removed mine but then cut around the silver heatsheild so that could be put back on. The sheild needs to be there to stop heat getting to the brake lines.

Didn't the paint just crack off it being a material and not a solid item?

Nooooo... The sound proofing is fibre based, spray a light coating over and it will soak in!

Mine looked perfect after :)

I sprayed mine ages ago in halfords satin black and its lasted really well, heres a recent pic.
