Back seat removal

Is removing the whole back seat set up an easy thing to do on a fairly regular basis (172 Cup here)? Obviously the seats come out easy but I was wondering more about the whole back section that folds down, just a few screws or something?

yes, it's one bolt iirc, inbetween the split section, undo that and it just slides back and out

remove the luggage rail while your at it, as it's another useless piece of weight in the car

OK I'm guessing this is 'once you know what you are doing its easy' thing as I'll be damned if I can get the thing out! Can't find a bolt anywhere (apart from a large gold odd shaped one on the luggage rail as somebody described it), any kind souls have any further clues?!

Basically at the bottom of the 60/40 split theres a little bolt with one of those soppy 'star' torx screws in it, which you will obviously need a torx screwdriver for. I haven't got one which wound me up after spending half an hour trying to undo the rest!! After that, they do simply slide out. It is one of those things that take ages on the first go. Yeah get rid of the luggage rail, absolutely useless to be honest.

Wish I'd read this before earlier this evening! Got everything (and I mean everything) out apart from the rear back (the metal rail that came out must account for half the weight of the car!), then got to that bloody black star screw thing and no method of actually removing it!

Need to get me a torx screwdriver and I will try again, do you remember which T number it is?

dont bother youl strip the head, get a wrench and tighten around the the nut its a b*****d at first but it does start to turn, took mine out last wed, weighed everything up lugage bar etc.. = 15.5kg`s !! and let me tell you the sound you hear from the exhaust when you hit the limiter makes it worth it all and for just a relativley small saving (nearly the same as the diffo between a 182 and 182cup) it feel much faster.. mines rapido now and i mean really quick pulls upto 100 easy.
