Back to a 182!

Hi guys, I was a member of the Trophy forum however I sold that a year or so ago...


I got a Trophy to replace my M3 which cost me too much... and I got a golf gti to replace my Trophy as I felt the red was a tad 'rude boy'... However I miss the chuckablility of the little Clio.

Instead of scratching my Impreza itch and staying in a rented house forever I am going to get my own house and have a clio again... But this time not a trophy.

Any advice on buying a 182 in regular cup form?

Can you get the same sort of dampers that the trophy had?

How much am I looking at paying for a 50k or less Racing Blue or Black one?

Do people tend to put their cars up here instead of piston heads?... Or at least before?... At least on a forum you tend to be able to trace a cars history....

Racing blue cups with that mileage are around the 4k marks, Blacks can be had for 3-3.5k. They seems to be fetching less & less everyday at the minute!

I noticed that one but I don't think I have enough posts to see pictures... I'll have to get my Golf up for sale ASAP.

Are the Sach's kits on a par with the coilovers from K-tech ? I see they do a few different brands.

Also, I'm just looking at winter wheels/tyres but can't remember what size wheels the Turini's were... 15"?... 195/55/15? or were the 50 profiles?

Cheers guys. Do many sets come available on here? They only seem to be brand new on Ebay...

There's a Trophy for 4.5k on Pistonheads if I liked wraps I could get that and wrap it black/white/blue...

You can get mint 182's for around the 3k 3.5k mark now. even at that price some arn't shifting, i wish it was affordable for me to have kept mine tbh. the one car ive owned and never got bored of driving.

You've pretty much done a full circle like I did lol. Best way imo!

I always take valuations off this site with a pinch of salt lol, always get undervalued. I'd say for a good 182 in RB you're looking at 3.5 - 4.5k.

I just miss having something I can spend all weekend tinkering with and cleaning and being happy with the result.... I also miss having something small and light to chuck around the roundabouts .... If I can't have the power of the M3 you might as well have handling!

I went back to a Golf as it was a safe bet... Little did I realise I'd moved on from Golf GTI's in my style of driving... I also hate silver as when you spend hours waxing it... it looks the flippin same!

I don't know if I like the Racing Blue or not... Can't make up my mind. I like black/yellow combo so might get black one, Turini's, AD08's, coilovers, whiteline ARB, K-tec remap and K-tech goodies... Yellow highlights...

I'm hoping to find one in the new year about 3.5k but I'm not going on my own to buy a car anymore as I always come away with dog's that need s**t loads doing to them!!!

Taking my mechanic mate from work with his diagnostic kit and his overall's!

Just been reading up about tyres, can the Turini's take 205/45/16 as I can't seem to find Yoko AD08's in 195/45/16 anywhere?

I'm not originally from Stoke mate, I just work in Hanley. Live in Burslem atm but I'm from Stafford.

Standard size for the turini tyres was 195 45 16

I've seen a Trophy a couple of times whilst at work on the Kingstreet roundabout where you can go to Fenton, or to the A50... that you Keo?

Yeah thats the one mate. Where you can go down Viccy Rd towards hanley or the other one towards the Mags court... I can't decide if I want another trophy or not... Saw one went for £3700 on pistonheads! :O

I sold it August 2010 with 30k on the clock for 6700... If I could get one for about 4k now I could get it wrapped rather than buy a Racing Blue/Black 182 and source the interior and turini's...

Now to wrap it white with 'Trophy' in red... Or black with 'Trophy' in Yellow...?.... hmmm

Racing Blue is fine. It is not chav, it's an awesome colour.

Trophy's are not chav.

Sachs vs Ktec coilovers?? Lol, come on. There's a reason Renault didn't go to Ktec instead of Sachs for suspension.

How much are you looking for? what colour etc? I'm looking to buy end of Feb I think.

wouldnt exactly say a trophy is 'rudeboy' tbh. i think its quite understated compared to the proper renosport models....i.e mk1 clios. theres no big fat arches, no bonnet bulge, altho you do need to rag the arse off it to do owt

The dephaser controls the variable valve timming, but that is as far as my knowledge on the subject goes lol. Maybe someone could expand on it?

I wish I'd kept it now... I've just been onto the Clio Trophy site and 006 is still going well in the hands of the guy I sold it to!

I don't have over 5k to spend on the next one though... Think I might plumb for a Racing Blue Cup now to find a good clean well looked after low mileage one for about 3-3.5k ...

What makes you want the cup? get a 182 with both cup packs in the racing blue, then you get all the goodies that come with it
