background pic on my laptop

Ive got a picture of the net that i want as my background pic,but for some reason its stretched across the screen..how do i make it the right size as i havent a clue,i thought it was just this picture but its doing it to all the pics i have

The picture will be in a different aspect ratio to the resolution your screen is set at. You wont get it to display properly without enlarging it and then cropping some off to make it at least the same aspect ratio as your screen, or preferably the exact same resolution.

thing is last week i had to set my laptop back to factory settings and since doing that the all the pics i have wont size properly as they did before..is there someway i need to change the screen size in the settings???
