Ball joint question

Maybe a silly question. I am fitting new ball joints and wondering if the tracking etc will need doing after. If so I might as well do the TREs while I'm there.

Better to get it done especially if your going to do the tre's.

Tracking will be way out! Mine was crazy after doing the balljoints and changing the dampers, the guy said eventually my tyres would have been ripped to shreds.

100%. I tend to do the ball joints, and then do the tracking by eye if I can't make it to a garage the same day.

When I did the ball joints on my clio and took it for tracking the TRE's gained play after they'd done my tracking. Had to replace them and have the tracking done all over again. Well worth doing it for the cost.

You can use fishing line to get your tracking quite accurate

Fishing line, sounds interesting! Can I get my tracking done at a normal tyre place or will i need to go somewhere that has a hunters system etc?

A normal tyre place would do it but I'd recommend a place with a Hunter system - you'll get a printout of the settings then too.

Cheers I will get TREs as well then. Was looking on gsf but they have sold out of their 'premium' ones. Anyone used the 'standard' grade ones from them as they don't list a manufacture on the site.

I wouldn't risk it tbh, I'd go genuine as they don't cost that much from what I remember.

Right guys I am having new ball joints, TREs and poly wishbone bushes fitted tomorrow. does anyone know of a good place to get the tracking etc set up around the reading/Maidenhead area?

If not in the berkshire area can anyone recommend a good nationwide company for setting up the geo?
