Battery light on dashboard is on????? HELPPP!!!!

Hi there,

recently the cable that earths my body to the engine block snapped and so i have created a new current going from battery to body and then from battery to engine block, now the car starts and everything's OK, except the dashboard light for the battery is on? This obviously indicates that my alternator isn't working and the car is therefore running on the battery, however ive tested the alternator and it is working fine and charging my battery but that light is still on? How do i fix this?

What voltage is the Alternator giving?

should be between 12 - 14 Volts mate

hey nick, its around 14 when the car is running and its 13v when its off? like i said i its all working great but that battery light is on?

Alll seems in order then. The only thing I can put it down to is some dodgy wiring since your earth was dodgy maybe something else is. Or its just a blip in the system and may eventually clear itself up. Just hope no electrical fires happen.
