OAWG if you want to be really safe but you will also need some fuses as well.

I think you need a cable that can cope with 170A. I`m still trying to find a safe route to take my cable. Where do you guys route your cables when doing a conversion to the boot?? and do you like run the cable through plastic piping to insulate it further or just run it open ?

Samuel

170A transient though, unless you run the starter motor for a few mins at a time ;-)

I run it with the standard insulation for the most part. I'll heat shrink a couple of bits of shrink onto it where it passes through grommits etc. to make sure it grips the gromit and can't move/break the seal in the bulkhead. I then secure the cable on the run with either plastic or rubber lined P-Clips.

I don`t suppose you could give me the route you take??
I`ve taken it through the gromit hole where the passenger side is but i can`t find any safe route through the car.

I can understand that, but where exactly do you take the 3 metres of cable through the car to get to the boot?

Sam

Down the passenger side, in a road car you can hide it under the plastic inner sill covers. Secure it using p-clips and via the standard cable guides in the cable trays running down the car.

Go to a scrappers and hunt down a big any merc, pop the boot and then rob the lead which goes from the front to the back :D It has all the correct clamps etc ready for you. Job done and mine cost £3 lol IIRC its the E class... there are loads in the scrappers up in the northwest, Manchester area.
