I have always been a COD player but haven't bothered with the last few generations. The only shooter I have at the moment is Rainbow 6 Seige but I'm looking for something else and not sure whether to go COD with remastered old game or BF1. Any thoughts or opinions?
Well, I came SO close to installing BF1 at the weekend. Something just doesn't work with me and the game. I don't know if it's lag, the game engine or something else.
I jumped in the middle of a round and finished with a K/D of 1/9. The next one wasn't much better - I think I got 6 kills in the full round. Yet again, I got taken out by the front runner from the 12.10 at Chepstow on his half mile dash towards me. On the desert map with sod all foilage to cover him, he came bounding over and I crouched and fired bursts. Hit points against him and the horse, but no deaths. 15ft from me he takes a swing with the sword and I'm dead.
At another point, I picked up the anti-vehicle kit that comes with the sawn-off shotgun. As controversial as these things are - at least it guarantees to be effective at close range. I nail three trying to destroy our telegraph in the building at A. Out the window I spot an enemy scout and flank him up the hillside to the left. Both barrels loaded, I sneak up, pull the trigger and I'm stabbed. Dead.
After about two hours play on different servers and different game types, I just give up. What's the fecking point in playing something that is just bubbling my urine? Yet again, I quit and fire up Star Wars Battlefront. No idea of the game mode - never played it before. No idea of the map - again, never played it before and ended up with an even K/D by the end of the round.
Quit that and tried BF4. Hanging out the side of a Little Bird, I'm strafing rooftop enemies with the MP5. Hit after hit and a far more rewarding experience all round.
The jury is still out for me on BF1. It looks beautiful. Sounds great and has the intensive maps that really pull you in. But as a multiplayer game for me, it's shocking. It's like there's a delay between my inputs and anything resembling a reaction to those inputs on the screen. The inventory is a mess - primary and secondary on the mouse wheel, then separate keys for individual gadgets followed by hitting Z when you need to go prone? It's all cumbersome, clunky and not what made previous BF games such a buzz to play when s**t gets really busy. BF4 itself has the full inventory on tap with a simple scroll of the mouse wheel. God knows who or why they decided to change it in BF1?
