Because i couldn't be bothered to get harnesses...

I got a CG lock instead.

With the trackday at Snetterton coming up, rather than shelling out for a set of harnesses which im not overly keen on, i thought i'd try one of these out.
All the reviews sing its praises and i must say its a big improvement whilst still keeping the standard inertia reel belt.
Keeps your back where it should be and you don't slide forward under braking or cornering.
Ideal for a semi road/occasional track car.
:approve:

Anyone else tried one?

Daniel, it holds the belt tightly in place to give a more secure feel.

I haven't had one yet but have only heard good things about them.

  ITB'd 182...
Ive been running mine since Trax last year

I love it tbh! Keeps you locked in place, just remember to do it up tight to get the full effects

Well with the Evo discount code its £39.99 posted but you save £14 if you buy two.

I know you can buy second hand harnesses for not much more but with this you can just bolt it on and leave it and the belt just carries on working in the same way.
I only have Cobra Daytonas which aren't exactly track whoring high sided fixed seats so this is probably more suited.

They're truly great.

I had one in my Cup before the seat and harness went in, and I now use it daily in my Focus.

Good for your posture as well. I have it so tight it almost hurts.

I've been looking at getting one for mine.. don't want harnesses and I drive too hard for the seatbelts to hold me still :p

Friend has one in his DC2 Integra, he must rate it as it was in his Polo G40 before and he's kept it. I forgot all about them but I might get a hold of one, the Clio always makes me slouch so improved posture would be a nice added bonus!

You could try this because its FREE!

Sit in the seat how you normaly would, recline the seat back by about 5-10 degrees, pull the seat belt fairly tight across your lap and then tight across your chest, without giving it much slack, tug the belt so it locks but keep tension on the belt so it doesnt unlock, then with your other hand recline the seat back to its original postion and into the locked belt. You may have to try this a few times to get the desired tightness but not too tight or it will ache your collar bone after a while... it can also be quite dangerous if you have an accident as the pre tensioner will tighten it even more... so for track days/road use I would recomend disconnecting the drivers side.

Used one of these on track today and stopped the passenger trying to land on me which helps! ;)

Seriously impressed by them and tbh don't think I will bother by harnesses!

Even better i have borrowed them but safe to say he will struggle to get them back :D

Also look closely at the pic to see how the fit

  172 (sold), Elise,
I have this in my TVR - well worth it. Can easily be removed, leaves no trace.

Will be on order for my 172 soon!

I have one, cracking bit of kit

ok its not as great as a harness, but it really does hold you alot tighter, and iv done about 20,000 miles with it and it seems a bit weird when i drive other cars, and it does hold you tighter in the seat, iv worn it round Combe twice now and it does work

so gets a decent recommendation from me!

^^ I used to do this in my old Puma and it worked a treat. Can you just disconnect the pretensioner without disconnecting the battery on a 182? Will a warning light come on?

wtf

lol

Surely this is just going to screw your seatbelts up as you're loading the mechanism that locks the belt?

Sort out a CG lock and you'll have a better result with a lot less problems!

If you disconnect the pre tensioner it will turn the air bag light on. The locking system on the seat belt is a very simple design, similar to a pendulum, anything other than vertical and it locks.

I am not suggesting you try this on the open road with the tensioner still connected, please do so at your own risk.

If you unplug the pretensioner for a trackday, then plug it back in to drive home, will the dashboard warning light go out again?

3.3 ohm resistor in the multiplug under the seat. done

tightening your seatbelt is a really good way to get strapped in but it's a pain in the arse to keep it tight.

CG lock wouldn't need reseting everytime you get out to get petrol i guess
