LOL @ the picture of me getting told off! I don't understand why they had a problem with me deliberately getting the back end out at 90mph in 4th :S

Totally agree with Warren, so many big egos out there... Twice the power and half the talent!

Was a wicked day, great selection of cars and some great little battles. I really need to get some track tyres, these road tyres just aren't enough lol.

Steve, he wouldn't let Ste past at all and blocked him a couple of times! Once quite aggressively (at the bottom of the pit straight). He was definitely holding him up through 90% of the circuit, with the exception of the longer straights, but even then I was amazed how well the Clio stuck with it - very few cars were realistically quicker on the day!

It was my first trackday, and being Ste's passenger was a bit of an... eye opener! Lol! I can't remember everything, but he got past some pretty impressive machinery, including: M5, GT3, Focus RS, S2000, M3, etc. The most impressive for me was the FQ360, which was over the course of a couple of laps, along with the 4 lap encounter with the white 200 Cup - they were pretty evenly matched!

Ste - thanks for taking me dude, was a pleasure! I did s**t myself a fair few times, but it was awesome :)

Nice pics Warren, and good to meet you.

Is that KOK Clio on here?

So. On the track how do the MK2's fair against the MK3's? I always thought my 197 was pretty handy tbf, splitting hairs?

Both are very similar in perfomance. As you'd expect the MK2 has weight to it's advantage where the MK3 has the better stability and stopping power. The 197 is more planted with better brakes as standard and gives you the confidence to drive harder, but it's lardiness and lack of torque compared to it's older brother even out and major differences.

You did get past a 182 without too much bother - I think a lot of it is down to how 'committed' the driver is, and Mr Burns is VERY committed/a 'hooligan', lol!

You can see the difference in stopping power though, and the day just highlighted to me how much of a difference handling and brakes really do make. Power is just pub ammo.

Agree its mainly down to the driver. Was interested to see what the actual difference was between MK's

At a guess I'm slightly quicker in the 197 than I would've been in my old cars, having said that though it depends on the track. A tight-twisty course may swing in the MK2's favour. The 197 definately feels happy on track, I had a ride with Warren (cheers btw) and the weight advantage is more the obvious. From past experience me and Warren (both stripped out and on coilovers) are very similar on track. I need to get some decent tyres like 888's to see how much better the grip is then, as my main issue is controlling the oversteer/understeer. Bit of lift-off oversteer never hurt anyone though ;)

As ste said tbf. Tricky to compare though, because I imagine we're running quite different setups suspension wise.
I'm currently running a bit of toe out, as I love aggressive turn in. But it does sacrifice some stability under braking. I'm going to try some toe in next time out. Could be quicker, but I won't stick with it if it's less fun!
