Been to look at a car.

Dont u just hate small car dealers!!!

ive just been to look at this car: http://users.autoexposure.co.uk/is/remotemanaged/AETA63014/AETV578721_1b.jpgCLICK at a local private garage. Was looking round it and out popped the salesman. Great i thought, chance to ask him some questions.

His first response was "do you know this car has 170bhp". In reply i said "actually its got 172". He then went on to tell me that i couldnt afford to buy the "170" because its not an 18 year olds car (im 21 next month).

Why do they think they can get off with telling me i couldnt afford the car. He suggested a smaller engined 106 as a more "affordable" option.

Oh well, was a nice looking car too :(

i am not a fan of salesman in any shape or form, they love to bragg about the tiem and often u know more as u have researched etc, then they give u the schpeel of its slighty out of ur price range!!! Salesman = Selling not putting people off with arrogance

  cock mobile.

I know how you feel, salesmen can be complete tools!!

Luckily never really had that response myself, but often when going with mates to look at cars they have given the big you cant afford this car/insurance speech.

Fine Ill go to the next garage and afford it there!

Or buy it and call him a tool.

I remember reading that James Beattie went to a Porsche dealership to buy a new 911 Turbo. Dressed in his training gear. Salesman said he wasnt in the right place!

Id have gone and taken the money out in cash and said feck you give me another salesman and he can have the comission.

Unfortunately people that are in any form of sales tend to have a big ego and are cocky. I have had that experience with a few mates who started work in sales.

I havent exeperienced any idiotic salesmen myself. I seem to know more than the salesmen at Renault anyway so they always say hi. (who doesnt ;))

My missus went to buy her Fiesta ZS and the salesmen was an arrogant sh*te. If youre young or female they try and take the p!ss. Buy it and then tell him to F*ck Off!! haha

  don't

lol should have test drove it and ragged it

then said naa, doesnt feel quite right, think ill get the wallet out at renault and get the 182 afterall byeeeeeee

i hate car dealers like that, often when i go to look at cars,
i know more about the car than they do, the best bit is when they make up something about it & you know full well that they are just chatting cr*p.

Fubar, id have laughed in the dudes face mate !
imagine his face if youd have gone ok, ill take it. Or better still rock on up in a 172 & if hes still selling it in couple of weeks say to him oh well still selling it shame its not for little kids.
what a patronising tw*t the dude was.

If we lookand sound young then they seem to think we must be TOOO young eh :D

It was the same when I was enquiring about V6s and insurance for them people just didnt take me serious so in the end my dad had to do all the phoning round for me................funny that Im 20 and my dad has to phone up about cars and insurance

LOve the 16v! :D

  Mk1 172 Exclusive No.17

The Renault dealer that I bought my exclusive from was like that. They just thought I was wasting their time and asked me how I intended to pay for the car. Funnily enough I had just sold my previous car and pulled out 4 grand in cash. The sales womans face was priceless she then offered me a drink and a comfy seat in her office.

:p

  Ford Fiesta

tell him to feck off and when you do buy a 172 go back and see him and show him what a nob he is.

Stus idea would have been good.

Please, please, please go and see him once you have bought a 172 just to rub his face in it. people like that really annoy me but it can be worth it just to prove them wrong and rub their face in it.

LoL, salesmen can be tw*ts sometimes, just before I got the willy I went to look at a fiesta RS...salesman came over as I was looking at it and said id have to get an insurance quote before I could have a drive? He was so sarky about it too, said it was to fast to mess around in.He promptly shut up when he saw the WRX parked out the front as I asked him if it would be as fast as my car:devilish:.....172 looks nice Fubar.

Hahaha remember when i test drove an ax gti and there was no coolant, the light came on (head gasket blown) but he tried to convince me this was the screenwash, also the steering wheel was knackered but "only needed a washer" WTF!

  BMW E46 330i Touring

Reminds me of the beginning of that film with Steven Seagal and DMX, where DMX and his fat friend go into some Supercar showroom, and the salesman is dismissing them until DMX pulls out a suitcase of notes. He then gos all street trying to win their affections, so DMX buys the car and gives the quiet salesman behind the commission....

So maybe you have to see the film... but its so true!

I think you should buy a sh*t metro or something and ram raid the dealership!

I got the opposite problem when buying my tubby, I liked it and wanted it but said I would have to find out about insurance first. He was shocked when I said I was only 23! I look nearer 30 probably!

I had the same problem at a renault dealer when i was getting quotes for the V6. He was a right arrogant c**t so i just walked out, "do you know how expensive they are" "how old are you" "forget it you wont even get insurance they are 20D you know" . And was made to look like i was just wasteing his time.

It seems to me that salesmen in the car industry have the worst customer service ever, yet in my local tesco where i only spend a few quid in comparision to the cost of a car, you get brilliant customer service.

My local Reg Vardy is useless as well. I turned up in my valver wanting a go of a 182 before buying one was told that the 182 would be a fair bit faster than my “RT” and they don’t give test drives in them?!?

Went to another dealer and bought it :D

Was back in the Reg Vardy dealer today with my 182 for warranty work (brake sensor). Saw the same sales man and explained that my 182 was in for warranty work but I wouldn’t mind knowing when they will be selling clio v6’s until as I know the new clio will be out later this year but I’m seriously tempted to upgrade to a vee. He just said “not sure depends when the new clio comes out”. Ah well that’s another sale he has lost!

  clio 182

yeah when i asked to test drive a 182 he chuckled to himself then i quickly said ill be part x ing a 172 2 yrs old he soon wiped the smirk off his face problem is they probably drive sh*t cars and are jealous

  Ford F-150 5.4 V8
