belt change

hi just had my cars 36k done at my uncles garage but he did not fanccy undertaking the auxillary belt change. i have just booked it in at evans halshaw renault they are saying it will be £205 fitted +vat thats is jhust for the belt change alone. am i being fleeced or is this o they say they will need the car for 3-4 hours?

Well, only in as much as you always get fleeced at main stealers. It's a good couple of hours job, so at their labour rates and £40 for the belt kit, that's about right.

Whereabouts are you? Far better to find a local Renault specialist with half the labour rate, probably more experienced mechanics and definitely better customer service......

my clio has 38.3k on clock
i haven't done aux belt. i noticed screeching/whistling from under the bonnet when is cold. Is that aux belt asking for change??
please confirm

I know a really good garage in Leeds that is highly recommended by Clio Sport.Net its called:
R S Murray and Son,
West End Garage,
Cross Cliff Road,
Leeds.

Look them up their really good at their job and quite reasonably priced.

I've just been there, top stuff. Though to be fair, whatever you save on the price, you'll pay in petrol from Withernsea. PM Rob's172 for a nearer alternative, he's from Hull.

my belt is gettin done at my uncles garage, with help from one of his pals who did work for reno!

reno is crap since its been taken over, been trying to get parts for ages, in the end my uncle made them, better then std anyway

but you really need to do it, coz if it goes its gona cost you big

but get out to some yorkshire meets, next one this sunday!
