Hello everyone,
I am having a problem with my Clio MK3 2006 1.4 with 79k on the clock, where it has this frustrating 'chirping' noise coming from the belt area. The car had a timing belt kit change before it was purchased, and recently I have also changed the belt changed to see if the noise would go along with the pulley? (things the belt spins on) greased up, and it did for around a week and it has recently come back? It is now to the point where I need some advice on what it could be before I ask a garage to have a look and possibly take me for a ride as a don't have the money to pay a large bill (being a student). It seems to be worse when the car has been sitting in the rain? I looked at my drains below the wipers and they seem to empty some water into the engine bay, is this normal and could this be causing the greese to be removed from the bearing or something? Here is a video demonstrating the water going into the engine bay - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQIVRThwvmw
Could anyone explain why it seems to be chirping more when its wet? Do you think the bearing might be getting old and need replacing on the pulleys so are chirping? I am going to ask a local mechanic what he thinks it could be as he thought changing the belt could fix it, but if he can't solve the issue are there any specialists who I could take it to around the Gatwick area? I am at a loose end with this as to what it could be, so any advice would be much appreciated! :approve:
P.s I don not know if this has anything to do with it, but sometimes when the engine is cold and I drive to the end of my road (100-200 yards), when i get their and change to first to join the road, the revs sometimes drop to around 200-300rpm and I have to give a little gas to stop it from stalling, but this is not a common issue that occurs, just thought I would add.
Thanks for reading,
Connor.
