Benefits of a Mikita Rotary over the S1M?

  Not a 320d
I had a blast on an old bonnet, i detail with a good friend and hes just bought the S1M180, was amazed at how quicky we could power through swirls (it wasnt clearcoated but it was faster than the G220) and we had a go at burning through, youd have to be a total r****d to do it, compunding pad with UPOL, didnt take long though under heavy pressure. The finish i got from a 3m waffle finishing pad and 3m Ultrafina was unreal !

He got it for the "lol", its pretty cheap and it was to get us into using a rotary, rarther than buying a Mikita which was more expensive just incase we couldnt get along with it.

Got me thinking through, the machines look the same, knowing Mikita, i would imagine the build quailty to be far superior and be FAR more reliable. I want to buy one now so we can both work on a car at the same time, but should i just stick to the S1m ?

Smoothness of the motor, the extra obvious torque and the fact that it doesn't slow down under pressure.

Sod them both though, far too heavy. Look at the Chicago CP8210 or Festool RAP150 :)

For occasional use though, the SIM180 is fine. I just wouldn't want to be using one very often at all.
