got stopped by the cops yesterday after coming off a roundabout and accelerating hard to bout 65-70mph then stopping at that speed as i knew they were a few cars behind me

the pulled me over,no fine,no points just a 10-15min lecture on uneconomical driving :S i know when i press the big pedal on the right it uses more fuel i dont need them to tell me that

PMSL at the "look at one in the flesh comments" It's a Clio FFS not a Veyron/Zonda most people on here have seen one in person numerous times.

It's all subjective anyway so wind your neck in, face up to the facts that just because you like how it looks doesn't mean everyone will....

It's a £15k car that's not limited in numbers, we're not talking a rare and expensive hyper car. I've seen at least 4 now and personally they do nothing for me, the wheels and the front end are IMO the worst styling on an RS since the phase 1 172.

I'll be honest though, most people turn the heads for the exact same reason as they turn their heads when a 106 rocks past with an OTT Jap style bodykit without being lowered, ie 'wtf is that and why would any-one think it looks good' kinda stare. I like the reviews about how the 200 drives, but I hate the look of that front end so so much. I've seen a few in the 'flesh' and the only colour that almost makes that front look ok is black, and even then I'd still prefer the front off of any previous RS clio.

However, back on topic was this on a DC at all ie a 70mph speed limit? If it was you could have told her how un-economical it was for her to stop you forcing you to accelerate upto speed all over again

Most people? Never heard such a load of crap. As ive said in other threads, the rs needed something to make it look different from a standard clio. And they have done it well. From all people who've seen mine love the black and white nose, therefore Most love it on that basis...

It seems like you're trying to argue that it looks good as fact. It's subjective and people's opinions will vary, opinion is not wrong it's just opinion. In case you're struggling to grasp it here's an illustration on the difference.

Fact.
The lines where the bumper, wing and headlight meet do not flow.

Opinion.
Because of ^^ fact some people think it looks like a poorly executed cut and shut.

I've no problem with the clio 200 as a car but for me the front end looks alot better on the 197.

heh, every RS in the past has looked different from the standard model without having a hideous nose. I bet all of the 106 owners friends/any-one he put on the spot would say they think it looked good, especially loving the huge rear wing or whatever the really obvious controversial bit would be.

Also, just so we're not going round in circles, this is my opinion that it looks awfull. Given that your the only one here arguing the other way and havin seen the thread when the 200 was first released mines the majority opinion. If you have an opposing opinion, thats fine just dont try and argue it because some-one doesn't like your car, it'll only upset you/maybe make you cry.

The look of the 200 has grown on me, but saying that RS needed a car to distinguish the common look is like saying Chrysler needed to build the PT Cruiser :nono:

Went to look at a black one in a renault dealer the other day and put simply, IMO! I much prefer the 197 cup.

Good argument, based on that post I have to ask, have you owned a 1.0 with a huge chavvy bodykit before? Did all yours boys tell you it looked ace bruv? Are these the same guys saying they like the front end of your 200? Are you sure they are not just a little bit simple/drunk/'influenced'?
