I think they were about £350 each with the sub frames, that was about 2 years ago now though. Im not totaly sure weather or not the sidewinders are still in production, Iv got a feeling they were replaced.

couple of my installs, sadly only the ones that didnt make the magazines, i left without taking the articles on my work.. 5 years ago now, heh. feels like yesterday i did them. i never picked the equipment, they were both left up to the customers.. :(

some nice installs there... I dont have one anymore, but i have pic of my old bag of sh*te downstairs, will upload l8r

how many people can actually access there spare tyre or u all carry foam round with ya?

I can get to mine, but i gotta hold the stealth shelf up with my shoulder and try n lift the carpet at the same time while tryin to lift the jack out to get to the spare.

that mondeo had a motorized amp rack for when needing the spare wheel ;).. the escort had a manual system..

p.s if you wanna see one of the best installs in the country.. go look at sqplus website.. their bbg demonstrator audi is the best ive seen in the uk

Cheers Czone. The new system has been in for ages now but ive only recently had the new pics sorted.

Its all coming out again at the weekend for some extreme sound deadening. Its had a fair bit already but still rattles too much. Its gonna be a case of MDF panelling the boot and over the rear screen and side windows, MDF panels on the rear quarters and roof. Im adding an extra 3 layers of sound deadening material on the floor and doors. Also the roof is being fibreglassed and sound deadened as it has none yet and flexs far too much.

It currently runs between 149 and 151db on the old mics but with the extra work it should hit a bit more. Its more streetbass than anything else.

cheers it was only my second attempt at a proper install, they are 800w pioneers, sold one, still got one in the car, never been entirely happy with them, gonna change it soon.

no offense, but that evil car!!!!

three sets of 6by9s upfront!!!! y????? that must sound awful!

if there was so much effort put into that, y not just go threeway with some detailed sounding speakers, not as many speakers as u can fit in.

and the subs, are being wasted in such a small box, surely ported, if they are xxxs require a lot bigger than those small boxes. very fancy looking for the untrained eye, but surely sound wise, that install is backwards.

na just craig stephen williams, i dont mean to have a dig at evils car, was in a bad mood earlier, but its just such a waste of skills in my opinion to whack inappropriate gear in. I am from swansea tho, where bouts u from?

cswclio - i see your point on the 6x9s but seriously it sounds quite detailed and theres plenty of good quality treble and midrange in there. The old Pioneer 2 way 6x9s are one of the best sounding all round 6x9s ive heard (SQ wise as running high pass). Components would be a bit better but for the extra cost it really wasnt worth the hassle. The Magnat Stratos series comps which are already in there do a very good job anyway.. Also each speaker has its own fibreglass and MDF enclosure in the door...including the tweeters just in case.

At the bass end of things, the system has been measured at 151db (old mics) and still sounds very good for music and drops like a russian whore. Big db figures wasnt the aim, streetbass is my bag and the HC12s do very nicely in 1.85cuft ported boxes thankyou.

Feel free to have a personal listen when at a show etc.. Are you going to the Bass Junkies meet on the 25th July?

I have just today completed a £500 sound deadening session with MDF interior panels and boot, 5-10 layers of sound deadening (depending on area of car) and fibreglass roof. Unfortunately i havent had chance to test it yet but im expecting even better results with a small gain in dbs and a lot in SQ.

good on you mate, na i wont be at the event, bloody just came out of hospital after having cartilidge removed, cant drive for two weeks :S

install looks very fancy, but those hcs seriousely love huge enclosures!!!

would easily gain a few dbs if u experimented with different ported enclosures. Try slot ported and check the re site for recommended enclosures. Whats the imaging like in that chamber and have you had it measured on the new mics yet. Good job on the deadening tho, what did u use?

Thats a bit of a wounder about the operation...good luck with the recovery.

I know I could probably get similar db figures with the 2 HCs than with all 4 subs but it was done as a demo car for my old company and had to look the part as well as perform. What you cant see is the box for the HCs is the whole width of the car and goes back quite far.

The HCs are using aeroports firing under the Audiobahn amps to keep them cool and to direct the air forwards. Those ports are becoming popular since they started getting decent numbers on the meter. Both Audiobahn amps are actually powering the 2x Kicker L7 15s behind the 12s though. The HCs are only getting around 1000 watts RMS each from a pair of Rockford bd500s running at 1ohm.

I have used a combination of Dynamat, flashing tape, 18mm MDF and gripfill to get the cabin completely sealed. Even the rear windows now have 18mm MDF covering them up to stop air loss on bassy tracks. The boot has 36" thick MDF panelling for the same reason.

The whole system comes together pretty well in my opinon, it has good bass and treble, midrange could do with a little improvement which is the next job. The imaging is ok considering the amount of things that needed setting up..nothing groundbreaking though as you would expect.

I am getting it metered on the new mics at the Bass Junkies meet. I would have done it before but I had to do the deadening work first.

been testing it roday now that everything is back in and working properly.

theres not a major volume increase as such but the bass is much tighter and seems to have a lot less lag so music sounds better. The low bass in the 20Hz-35hz range seems a little better too.

As soon as its been db metered ill post the score. What mics are going to be at the bass junkies meet. I hear its going to be DB Drag. Is that the Termlab sensor type?

yep it will be the termlab sensor , ur score will be down on your last reading u had on the mics

but it will be 100% right and can be compared with any other scores

the old mics were prone 2 reading different because the were affected in so many ways

Thats ok, i know the score will be down. Im hoping for anything over 140 on the TL sensor. I want a reading that is right.

At a soundoff recently (measured with an Epic 150) I was 2db louder than the guy with the black golf, an 18" CV Stroker and Nemesis amp. Im sure you know him.
