Best budget tyres?

  Clio 182
Hi, I'm looking into refurbishing my wheels in the next week or so and too be honest would like to fit all new tyres as the car will soon be up for sale. However I really like the toyo proxes, but my mind is saying stay within budget and get nankangs. Best price for these are £176 on ebay delivered against the toyo at around £250 odd. I will not benefit from there use, more to increase its selling chance. Refurb and tyres will be around £340 so I figure that any buyer will welcome the tyres regardless of brand. Any ideas are welcome :)

When I was looking for a Clio, I walked away from three Clios because they had budgets on.

When you're spending £2k or less on a car, £250+ (Would have been £380+ for tyres I wanted on 16s) to replace the tyres straight away is a big hit, and many people looking for a Clio would not be interested in driving on budgets. It also indicates that the car was owned by a cheap skate.

I'd say you're better off leaving your car as it is and knocking £340 off the asking price, but if you're going to refurb the wheels and fit new tyres, spend the little extra and at least put something remotely performance orientated on (T1Rs are acceptable).

A lot of people will judge the car based on the tyres on it, many will want premium brand tyres, so if you put budgets on it they may try and bring the price down so they can stick 4 new tyres on it. I certainly did when I bought my 182, kid before put two new budgets on the front, I said it'd need 4 new tyres, he seemed surprised, but why buy a sports car and run it on cheap rubber - bought him down a few hundred for it, so you may not be better off in the long run - personally I'd get the Toyo's, they're not the best but are still respectable, and only a bit more than budgets; it's not like you're sticking Pirelli's or Bridgestone's on at over £100 a tyre.

T1R's are not even that expensive..

from experience i bought some Khumo Exctas last time for the fronts and for what driving i do i found them to be pretty decent and only £54 a corner.

Do your current tyres need changing and what are they?
As a buyer of a specialist car, I would rather receive a £150/200 discount on the car to fit the tyres I want (at say, £300, i.e. share the pain with the seller) than pay top whack for the car, then having to junk a new set of budget tyres and pay for decent new ones.
BTW, Uniroyal Rainsport 2 with a "W" speed rating are very good at £65 each delivered.

If you are selling the car soon I would at least be looking to put some semi decent on, I think they say a lot for the owner on what rubber is fitted.

If they see you with some cheap budgets they may think you have skimped else where on the car, but I also see your point of you are selling it and just any old tyres will do.

Avon ZZ3 or ZZ5s come in at around £64 each as do Uniroyal Rainsport 2s, I would just stick something like that on. Not top of the range but at the least the potential buyer can see you have made an effort.

Or just slap on some part worns? Filthy cheap even for Premium. Just get 5mm, job done. Looks like you give a shiut but you can also get away with spending very little money.

Exactly what I was thinking, or just buy two half decent ones and keep your best two that you have, if feasible.

Yeah this is also a good idea, can usually pick up some decent bargains on ebay for part worn Pirellis, Michelins etc.
