I used a Dyson with the pole removed today. Did the job nicely, and the long thin tool gets down the side of the seats and sucks the crap out of the seat rails too.

thanks for all the replies to my post.
I've now found out from most of you that you can remove the pole from the Dyson and just attatch the tools to the hose. I'll use this method instead of buying a small hand held hoover.
