come on guys & gals.

dozens of dCi owners on ere

wot about Meg or Laguna dCi upgrades??

Ok Ive posted this on another thread for you black kro there are a few options tunning a diesel

1 - Remap either superchip for an of the shelf one with a warently not the best but decient

2 - Custom remap on the rollers there are a few companies who will do thsi for £350 to £400

However both of these have weeknesses that when u sell the car its lost forever no money back. There may be a way round it but Ill need to PM a Renault Techie to check on it but it should cost you about £300 ontop of thr remap costs and it will be able to be sold on.

The other tunning way is via tunning boxes there loads out there from£350 to £700 many of them from abroad. They take advantage of the underfueling diesels are given but since they cannot adjust injection as well as a remap there gains are less. Still there about 100hp from the 80 and 84 from the 65 model. This is the most cost effective way as you can sell them on can be removed for warently etc. Mrhoot does tunning boxes for £350 or less I think just do a google serch for tunning boxes he is a paying link. You can fit an tunnign box in a few minutes as well and remove it just as quick

For more gains though best work on intake and exhaust. For intake Big Ian (or whatver has just bought a none zeon equipt 172) has a dci ram air intake for sale I think said to be good for an extar 9mph top end. Tnen you need a good airfilter the dci needs 172 like induction as its equal in size to a 3liter v6 with the turbo although it revs much lower so equal to a 1.5 liter petrol at 9k. So think about this before you stick a possibly more restrictive sirfilter on (I dont recomend K and N as there oiled so can mess up the MAF on the diesel badly). Then you need exhuast work leave the cat on as it will only loose you power mid range and (top end will be minimal if not possibly losses) if its removed.

But a straight back pipe of a decient size (2.25~2.5inches) should be fine there are companies who will make you something like this up might be a little noisy but there will be some gains. I dont know of any of the shelf cat back exhaust for the DCi even in Europe.

If you want any more info just give us a Pm or leave a message here I only come on at nite though.

NITROUS OXIDE nuff said.
What that going to do its a diesel dont do NOS unless your overfueling with black smoke and if your doing that then your turbos not going to last long.

NOS works by injecting more petrol as well but start poring fuel into the manifold of a diesel and ull wreck the engine very soon.

no, inject the fuel through the existing injectors. You can increase both the fuel rail pressure and injection duration using remaps/chipping .

Arr right soory though you didnt know what you were talking about your right you could do this and wire it to a tunning box which switches on only with the NOS its an idea some VAG tunners use for demo cars.

Youll need some one of mapping and big injectors to do this (100dci should be the biggest and easiest) and pump (again the 100 should be good). Turbos good for 1.4bar so with injecotors and remap alone your talking about 150hp. But thats about the absolute limit for the 100 injectors you could have them remade but 150hp is enough maybe the limit for other bits of the engine even.

With NOS well the potential is massive you could be talking about 600hp but the pistons would last 1/100 of a second.

Anyway modifiying the injection period is risky pushing it to far will lead to problem pre injection leads to excess pressure in the piston and to early combustion. Late injection leads to smoke ie melted turbo is pushed to far and excess heatt to the valves.
