best induction kit to..

  CLIO 172 CUP....
well got a nuff money saved up now hopfully to get my self a nice induction kit i have around..(£150-200)..

any one no the best induction kit to get for the ph2 clio 172 cup...im not looking at geting some s**t thing that (chavs) seem to think look and sound good....

also are the jms tuning induction kit any good on a standed 172 cup. will be adding an sports exhaust soon as well...

get the jms if you must have an IK. anything else will just be a waste of money and performance will suffer.

I read a review of loads of induction kits somewhere (Can't rmember where it was?) but it quite clearly showed that virtually every induction kit on the market reduces HP and Torque.

The standard airbox on the cup is very good, just buy a new panel filter.

Spend your £150 buying a K-tec recessed exhaust.

Just for future reference, all 172 cups are phase 2 ;) will save you some typing time :)

Not sure where you read that mate. You can certainly loose power with the wrong kit but there are improvements to be made over stock all be it minute

Exhausts give you zero gains also unless you spend the thick end of 800 notes

yeah i already have an itg panel filter fitted and it works well for me. just fort an induction kit would be better thats all.

em, o.k gonna for get buying an induction kit then and just gonna go for an sports exhaust... are the powerflow cat back ann good. but the only thing i dont like about most sport exhaust pipes thay seem to sit sort of sticking out under the bumper, and im not cuting the bumper befor any body mention it....

I removed my jms one this morning (needed to sell for the money) and went to a standard filter in standard box and then a pipercross filter after.

Going from the jms to the standard felt more restricted but not slower. Then the pipercross filter was less restrictive.

So IMO and experience today the jms will make it rev easier but doesn't make it quicker and a panel filter does pretty much the same thing but less sound (even though with an exhaust and de cat I couldnt hear induction noise) but the noise the jms one makes is amazing.

Just buy a pipercross panel filter and spend the rest of the money on something else.

baines....cheers for the offer but gonna stick to the itg panel...

I would buy such a kit for the noise mainly (which I did). at 150-200 get a used maxogen.

em...well i no peaple have said about keeping standed airbox with a (itg panel filter) witch i have or ready, or a pipercross panel filter..but i have the chance to pick up a v6 airbox with a pipercross filter.. now i have seen lots of post about the v6 is ment to be good little set up on the ph2 so im wondering if it will be wort geting as....will i notice any change..(i.e power wish or sound).. i no it not gonna give me nothing like big power wish or any think just wondering if it worth geting....oh and i will be fitting an catback powerflow as well...

It's not going to give you any substantial power gains. In fact, I'd be suprised if you'd notice it at all. As said, the only real real reason that people buy induction kits / airbox mods for clios is for induction noise.

As above, pretty much all of the induction kits available for the clios actually reduce bhp/tq. If you must get one then go for the JMS

I found a brand new one of them in the boot of my ph1 when I bought it... I just gave it away.

no way! lucky person whoevers got it, i really think it is a good piece of kit. i had a powertec one and that made the car feel less resposive compared to the normal induction but this seems to help a little while giving it the beans. got it for £30 bargain

Probably down to the fact most just bolt the kit on and expect it to be ''good''

Its ok having back to back tests as per the link in this thread but all its going to show is whats the best bolt on kit without mapping. With mapping and your talking a whole different ball game.

Its all about complementing other mods at the end of the day.

we stuck it on for a laugh, went up and down the road, then took it off as it felt like it was just bogging it's tits off. Plus they look ghey with the sparkly 'Hillpower' written across the front of it. Basically just a poor copy of a Ph1 airbox.
