Best mild audio upgrade?

  Williams 2
Hi guys, looking to do a mild upgrade to the sound system in my 182.

Have come from an Audi A3 with Bose sound system - nothing special but it sounded reasonable and actually had some sort of bass.

What is the most cost effective way to upgrade the audio? Just a head unit? Or just front speakers? don't want to spend loads, whats the most cost effective way to get a noticeable upgrade in sound?

Definately do not want to wire in a sub!

Thanks for the replies, I don't want sub or 6x9 speakers, I want to keep it as standard as possible.

Would just a good head unit upgrade the sound a bit? Or just front speakers?

Just googled the alpine KTP-445, never seen that before, looks interesting!

Would only work with Alpine I presume. The thing is im going to go for a Sony bluetooth head unit, so wanted to stick with either just that (hoped that might improve audio on its own)

So im going to do both speakers and head unit, when you see components in the doors do I change the tweeters in the dash too?

Also, I know they are 13cm speakers, do I need to worry about how 'deep' the speaker is? Ie will it actually fit in the door card?

Im running a Pioneer DEH-p77mp with some Ground Zero front and rear speakers and its decent enough and a hugh improvement on the standard stuff.

Thank you so far, final question...

Do I need to get speakers with a seperate tweeter up front and the combined in the rear or just 'woofer' type speakers in the rear?

Excuse my ignorance!

I left my standard tweeters in as they looked like a total pain in the rear to change.

major flaw with all headunits is that they have very small amps in them.

so changing headunit and speakers can make it sound "worse"

you can adapt the KTP-445 to work with other head units but thats only what i've read

The pioneer custom-fit components will drop straight into the existing wiring. Getting the tweeters out can be a ball-ache but with only heavy language i managed to get them out of the old 172.

May as well have a go eh
