Best oil to put in mk2 172

Evening all, my mk2 172 is going in for an oil service and I jest need to know whats the best oil to use...its an 02 plate with 31k on the clock.

check your manual, I use elf 5w40 synthtic in my 182, but your man may well say 10w40. They recently changed the suggested oil to 5w40 iirc.

cheers fella, last oil service i ended up paying the garage £36 for the oil they used!

They said they used mobil1, hence the price - but i reckon they use any old sh*t as they know it will be back in 6 months for another service!

5W-40 is what should be used mate

id go for Silkolene or Motul personally

if you join the club you can buy it in bulk from the club oil scheme very cheaply, contact the member oilman...

Ta mate....I still go on SSC all the time, even though I sold my vtr about 18 months ago.

Ill have to get my membership in here though!!

Itll cost £64 for 24 liters inc delivery and vat.

Then just take it along to the dealer you are using and its save save save all the way eh
