Thanks alot mate..............Its on just over 47k atm, does milage make a difference to what oil should be used then?

  Skoda Fabia vRS
well if your on say 80k then you might need something slightly thicker due to wear on parts

at 47k though id go for 5W-40

(never ever put Castrol Magnatec in your engine it will make it very noisy)

Elf Excellium 5W40
Silkolene (as mentioned above)
Motul
er... can't think of any more that have been recommended on here in the past! lol

Oilman is doing some deals, or do a search for Butler as I think that's the place that does the Elf cheap. :)

edit: and yes, I agree with Brun: Magnatec is the work of the devil! lol

Best I have ever used has been Castrol RS. Not used teh New Castrol Edge stuff. Found Mobil 1 Motorsport not that good (15w50 for summer use) and have used Total Quartz 7000, Duckhams QXR and Halfords own Semi Synthetics.

Just got 20l of Silkolene Pro S from Oilman. A steel at just over £28 a 5 litre bottle delivered free (when you buy 20l) and compare that to IRO £36 for 4l of Castrol or Mobil equivalent.

And by all accounts Silkolene seems to be better Ester based oil.

Best is what you asked?

Silkolene or Motul...........................and I sell Castrol and Mobil!

Cheers

Olive Oil ?

Oddly enough your not far off the mark there!

The ultimate and best lubricant of them all is Castor oil, however it is natural so degrades fast and has no ability to become a multigrade, but its the best.

Cheers.
