think you need to read the sticky's at the top of the section
Polish is an abrasive for removing defects in the paint, therefore not colour specific but depends on type of defects and quality of the paint.
Wax is also not so colour specific, more to do with personal taste and what you want or expect from it.
If you are a beginner and shopping in halfords, autoglym SRP, EGP and HD wax will leave a nice shiney finish and good durability. If you want to get into it properly, as said read the guides on proper wash technique and de-contamination and then look into glazes, cleansers and then think about sealing all your hard work with a sealant or wax.
Without knowing your experience or what you expect from it, it is an open book of possible combos.
