I have an 1997 RSi Phase III

I have changed the cap and arm and the fuel filter and the difference is unreal. I have also done the Cambelt. Next is some new leads, plugs and an air filter and then I should be laughing.

My car was no slouch as it was... So, Im well chuffed.

If you have an car over 3 years old I would recommend doing the fuel filter, you will be shocked!

i changed the cap, arm, and fully serviced mine today as well mate and changed the fuel filter. mucho mucho difference.

thats the next thing on my list!

changed the plugs, air filter, oil change all thats left is the fuel filter!

is there really that much difference?

From the fuel filter alone yes...

I do all the bits seperatly, so I can feel the difference in stages and the fuel filter was most noticable!

Just check the haynes manual changing the fuel filter sounds piece of piss, one thing, wont they change this when its serviced? and how do you clamp the fuel line?

its jus case holdin the line will fittin a new one in, i know ill end up with a mouth fuel of petroleum ;)

i bought the car with piss all history only had a list a few things and the last time it was completley serviced was on about 40k and its now on 100k

Haynes manual ses it shoudl be done every 36 000 miles, since mine is 9 years old and has only done 17 000 miles i think its a safe bet to say its never been changed

I sprayed the filter in WD40 and slid it out. Before sliding it out I loosen the lines on the filter. You have to squeeze then on two sides and they release.

Then I slid the filter right out and pulled the lines off. Not much petrol comes out. I just slid the new filter part way in and pushed the lines on. Then slid the filter right into place. You then hve to fight to get the lines to butt up tight. Not difficult just fiddlely...

The old filter will be half full of Petrol so dont tip it up. I just poured what I could back in the tank.

And dont bother wearing Latex gloves as they just disolve with the petrol!
