Best suspension set up on mk1

Best shop around try all the compnaies. Drop john2modified on here a message mesure your hubs (see this drawing for what you need to measure) put the wheel on full lock and measure that distance in the picture The hub bolts onto this and your strut won't look idential to that but you'll get the idea. have a look on the net for what you want there a good selection out there Apecx are the ons I'd fo got for cheap but decient quality. I;'d always go for a full kit of springs and shocks it makes the difference (the Mk1 only had frotn springs the rear is torsion bar still uses shocks but you need to get the torsion bar adjusted if you want the back lowering.

i will have to shop around, do want a full kit, my brother ben_p had a fk highsport kit on his old 1.2, that handled amazingly well too....

Make sure you get the bias valve adjusted Ben didn't on his last car and you know the hastle that was (even if that wasn't the reason for the problem). Best go to far like my old Mk1 was and have bad back back brakes than have any rear brake pressure.

You get an entire williams setup onto a RT or any other clio no bother.
You just need the willy driveshafts, shocks, springs, wishbones, hubs (if yours aren't 54mm spacing) and the 16v/williams wings.
Willy shaft will mate to an RT gearbox without any problem...it is a JB series after all.

Iirc Rts come with an Anti Roll Bar standard, but worth having a look underneith and checking it does. as if it doesnt this would make a could improvement on the standard setup.
In my expierience, on my first car (1.2) i lowered it just on springs and the shocks lasted no time.
Then got a Spax Vsx Kit which lowered it 55mm and that handled pretty good. debatable if it was better than standard.
When i got my valver i renewed the standard setup and that handled very good for our countrys roads, soaked the bumps well.
So i would say get a renewed valver setup for yours as thats a good compromise for all round driving, just doesnt look good as its not really low. but looks arnt everything.
An observation i have noticed is alot of the cars on events, the ones which do well usually are the ones which are on a the standard setup.

If you're going to the trouble of swapping the valver bits on though, you might as well make it a williams setup...
ahhh, ok - I thought you had to do ARBs and all that for the valver conversion, so almost as much hassle

Nope the subframes are the same.
The arb is a good mod to do if you dont have one, as my 1.2 dispite being lowered 55mm still had a good amount of roll in it.
Aye the williams track is good. so much better in the corners. but its alot of money, and debatable if its worth doing on a rt.
