Best wax for monaco?

Not sure if im right here, but does wax give cars that "wet" look?
because i clean, SRP+EGP. but it doesnt really give it much of a wet look..

Any advice?

I sound like a stuck record, but 95% of the finish is in the prep. Does it need machine polishing? Has it ever been clayed?

£12 Megs #16 will be as good as most on a well prep'd car. Wax won't add much bling if your paint underneath needs some attention.

I wouldn't say it needs machine polishing, but tbh i dont know much about it. The paintwork hasn't got many swirl marks, and feels smooth as glass. it shines. i just want it to look wet

Okay, generally speaking then your best bet will not be a sealant (which EGP is, as it offers more reflective/glassy look).

So you need to look at a glaze or oily pre wax cleaner, then a decent wax. What's your budget?

I'd look at getting Lime Prime and Rain Forest Rub - will give superb results on darker colours, and v wet looking:

IMO Monaco is dark enough to make best use of either Onyx or the Blackfire - they're both around the £50 mark and IMO give utterly stunning results if you put the effort into the prep.

As above, but defo use an oily pre wax cleaner - Cleaner Fluid from Swissvax is another good choice.

Do i apply them with applicator pads? And i take it Lime Prime first, then Rain Forest Rub?

Yes, Lime Prime is the pre wax cleaner which is about £13, then just buy some decent wax, doesn't have to be Dodo (and probably best not to for Winter).

As Mike says, Onyx is a good choice at £45.

And this was just after Blue Velvet a few motnsh later (and some SRP/EX-P Sealant)

I WOULD, but my car is stone chipped to DEATH. so it wouldnt be worth it. if it was mint i would, but i just like having a play myself.

henry they mean many of the dodo products aint very long lasting. TBH over the winter I use collinites 476 then when the weather gets nice I use my other waxes

Rain Forest Rub (and most of the standard Dodo's) aren't massively durable, so not an ideal choice given that Winter is looming. Onyx is nicer to use and is more durable, so a better choice overall IMO.

Oh and stone chips are easily sorted - touch up kit from Paint4U, wet sanded back then remove the sanding marks with a machine polisher. The biggest pain is building up the paint.

No, Dom doesn't believe in it as it can be measured in so many ways, and is over hyped/over marketed.

Supernatural lasts well... Purple Haze Pro is decent too (but that's a hybrid wax with sealant properties) but I'd still opt for something like Colli for Winter.

I'd be aiming for best looks in March - just protect it over Winter. R222 is awesome too, but again, poor durability.

Ive got that nice job to do on mine when the weather gets good again...couldnt be arsed this year but im going to do it next year...will take a while me thinks!

It doesn't need blending, just get the rest of the car machine polished for £100 and it will look fine.

You shouldn't be paying more than £250-£300 for a bumper and bonnet respray.

The 'nuba theoretically relates directly to the durability, which is does in most cases - 100% nuba is sold, and it's this 'hardness' which theoretically dictates how durable a wax is, but the more nuba present, the harder the wax is to make and therefore the more expensive it is.

However, this is very general, and a big part of durability comes from the prep work you do, and the ambient conditions in which you apply a wax.

Also, a lot of more durable 'waxes' (like Colli) are hybrid's with mixed in synthetic ingredients, which are cheaper than nuba, hence why Colli is such a bargain, but there is a marginal trade off in terms of 'looks'

I still think sealants are better for winter - something like Duragloss, Zaino or Britemax. Their water repellency properties' make them much better at keeping a car cleaner, for longer.

Colli is the best of the 'waxes' though

Definitely, and no hologramming etc to contend with, or gassing, which is a bugger on the higher end nuba stuff like Glasur and Vintage

Sealants are the future.

I bought some Heritage Wax a few months ago and have never used it...I have no idea why I bought it other then it was £9 (on the DW offer section I got it)

That seems like a sealant type wax.
