I'm trying to use the recovery console on an xp installation.
Used the above to blank both the Administrator account and the other admin user's passwords, but the recovery console is still asking for the admin password and hitting enter ain't working.
Is buteforce still about? if you can get the .pwd list file. I remember back in the day this is how we got our colleges entire password list. That was running windows 98 though..
ntpass works great.
Boot from cd, type in ntpass press enter.
Let cd boot up, asks you for drive you wish, enter number of drive.
Select password change.
Select Administrator, type * (blanks password and removes it)
Select user account type *
