BHP Needed!!

Anyone have any suggestions of what I could do to my engine to get some extra power out of it. Already got full system and induction kit, now i am after some other AFFORDABLE devices!

why do people always say save your money, buy a faster car etc theres nothing wrong with modding a 1.2

dont mod your 1.2 buy a faster car?! well why mod your 172 or 182 when you could just buy a faster car?

best way to make your 1.2 faster mate is to start with suspension and brakes, then it will be twice as fast in corners, then go for the usual air filter and cat back exhaust and a decat if you can be bothered with changing it at mot time.

next you want to save weight, strip out the back seats if you dont use them or if you want to be really hardcore strip the rear seats, rear doorcards, rear carpet, spare wheel and fit buckets!

another way to get these engines faster is plenty miles, pile the miles on it and give it a good thrashing when its up to temperature some times, will loosen it up!

then if your stull not happy you can go for what edde says, remap, cams, headwork etc.

EDIT: also dont know how much greif it is to convert it to a 16v engine

By all means spend some money trying to get more power but I wouldn't spend a hell of a lot.

Martin's ideas above sound good but I have to say that I agree about putting your money towards a faster car if you want a big increase in power.

not quite sure but im thinking of getting a dastek for mine mainly to sort out the fueling and make the most out of the mods

Remap won't make much difference depends on the modifications assuming a good air filter cold air intake and full exhaust you maye get to 75hp you'll get more mid range though which will help and be more noticiable.

I used to have a 1.2 and was thinking about cams, ecu and engine conversions and all that, but instead i just bought a faster car out of the tin (172) when you get a faster car you really do realise it is a waste of money no offence but ive been there. but if you are to spend money on the car do what martin 89 said.
