BHP & Torque Help

  RS 197
Hi,

I've just bought myself my first Clio which is an 07 RS 197 from a dealer which has a full K-TEC service history and has been very well looked after by its previous owner who part exchanged it for a 911!

The dealer had the attached printouts and I wondered if anyone can explain what's what?

Many thanks in advance and here's to some fun!

That seems suspiciously high.

Standard, These usually make between 180-185bhp and torque should be 150ish.

Is it cammed?

Obviously you can expect the odd strong engine but still Thatd be around 192bhp

Forgive me are they not suppose to be 197 at the wheels so higher at the fly?

Don't think its cammed but will speak to K-TEC tomorrow to find out what they know.

Can anyone recommend a good wheel refurbisher in Herts? Want to get them bare metal dipped and powder coated.

Thanks again.

I wonder where that was dyno'ed then?

They definitely aren't 197 at the wheels. Knuckles knows, and I stress that 180-185bhp is at the flywheel!

Because the engine powers the car, and the driver drives it?

So you think a driver getting into a car makes it less powerful?

It may reduce the power to weight ratio, but the power at the wheels/flywheel remains the same.

I'm talking all angles here, hence stating fly and wheels.

Sorry, we will just talk about flywheel power and pretend.

I would get it on another set of rollers and see what it's running, or just drive it and enjoy it for what it is

A 197 won't make that much break horse on accurate rollers. Not standard (without cams etx)

Our 197 with milltek exhaust, ktec induction kit and after a full rs tuning remap made 195 and that was considered good by Paul at RS Tuning

Ktec is renowned for optimistic figures

As people said, the 172,182,197,200 etc are all lab tested engines and the PS... Whatever that is, so the 197PS is 194bhp.

But being naturally aspirated, and French, you'll rarely see book power.

Likewise, the turbocharged meganes, 250,265,275 etc usually make over book power when dynoed.

But tbh numbers mean nothing in the real world. As long as the car feels fine and performs well, it'll be fine.

For reference

172s make 160-165ish
182s make 165-170bhp
197s/200s make 180-185bhp

When dynoed.

Super flow (iirc) dynos are known to be very generous with their results

My 182 did well at 183 with exhaust and induction kit at RS TUNING then haha
