Big 197 engine problem

didn't drive the car for 2 days, and I left it with very little fuel in the tank (the low fuel light just came on)
Today I tried to start it... nothing...sounded like no fuel.So went to the pump with a canister and got 10 litres of fuel.
Pressed brake and start button...nothing again.Same sound.
So with one foot I held the brake, pressed START and then pressed throttle a few times.
It coughed up barely breathing, and it sound like a tractor or some big old diesel and it idles bellow 1000 rpm and looks like it's gonna choke.
Can't get to the dealers untill morning cause they're closed.
What could it be?
Can I drive the car to the dealers tommorow or should I get it towed there?

And also, the check-engine light started blinking.
If you don't know what light it is..

COuld it be that all the mud and the dirtfrom the bottom of the tank causing the problem !?
Or something else !?

We had that light illuminate on ours just after we collected it from Motorpoint. It was just after we had filled it as they had left it with no fuel what so ever in it. Never had the problem again.

We spoke to a Renault dealer about it and they thought it was a lack of fuel.

I would call out the breakdown service to see what they think. I would also probably go and get some more fuel for it and maybe let it run for a bit to see if it helps to clear up the problem.

I know, I get that light for a few seconds sometime when I fill up with crapy fuel and it goes away.

But now it keeps blinking.
Engine is turning over and it fires only if I press the throttle a few times.
And the sound is...weird

now i turned it on more easily, sound awfull, and after a minut of idling the ESP turn itself off and I can't turn it back on and it says "check esp".
And it won't go over 5000 rpm !?

@Tom. I ringed the dealers, I'll take the car first thing in the morning, but can't hurt to ask here.Maybe someone on CS will know what it is, and the dealers place won't.

Ok that sounds much more serious than a bit of dirt in the fuel system.

I personally would get the recovery service to take it in.

Dont drive it

If the engine warning light is on contact your dealer and tell them the problem - have the car picked up by the AA or RAC and taken to the dealership - tell them you have not driven it

If there is a severe engine fault and you drive it knowing that the warning light is flashing they will cancel your warranty as fast as the C15 cancelled Diana after they found out she wanted to marry a muslim

and if the dealers told me "it's safe for you to drive it if it MOVES" ..I did quote them !?

It's only a 5 minute drive to the dealers.

Trust me on this - some silly bint on reception that doesnt know her ass from her head doesnt know the Renault warranty system in depth like i do - better to be safe than sorry. Renault are very thorough these days and blow warranty claims out like you wouldnt believe

someone said the car is in "limp home" mode, that's why it won't go over 5000rpm cause the ECU is protecting the engine or something like and it's safe to drive...
I'll call again in the morning and ask.
Btw, most of the people at the dealers here don't know their ass from their head.I'm not too happy to take it there, but there's no other place

you have breakdown cover dude, get it towed there its not really worth the risk imo.

try disconnecting the battery for 10mins then connecting it again.

also might be an idea to get more fuel?

it's now has half of tank and still the same..i'll try disconecting the battery now and leaving it for a while

all fixed.
while driving to the dealers (slowly, barely keeping the car alive) this showed up on trip. comp.

so they took out the injectors, cleaned them (one of them was down due to LOUSY FUEL) .
All good now
