Thanks mate... but - sadly - it's not my car. I'm only borrowing for an extended period of time whilst my Trophy is having work done. It belongs to Fred (boss of BTM Performance). He generously let me have it due to my car taking longer than expected and the fact that I needed a car for work, etc. If he were selling it, and I had the cash, I'd buy it off him in a heartbeat! But yes, it is stunning. A lot of fun and road presence!

Yep - a legend indeed. He may also let you use it if you ask nice. But beware... if you break it, you buy it! Those are the rules / terms and conditions! :p

I'd love to be able to afford a v6 . . . :(
Whats it like on mpg ? Much of a difference between a 1*2

It's surprising mate. I don't think I've spoken to anyone yet who doesn't like the V6. Even my other half likes it despite the noise (when the engine's cold) giving her a headache or waking her up when she's working odd hours...

The mpg? It's not too bad. I've covered circa 4000 miles in it and averaged around 24-25mpg. However, once warmed up and 'enjoying' it, I hear that single figure mpg's isn't uncommon...

In some ways it's quite a bit different to a 1*2, in some ways it's not. If you sat in it blindfolded and with no sound, it would 'feel' like a RenaultSport Clio. Handling-wise it's quite different (as to be expected with the engine behind you and RWD). It's not as easy to drive as a 1*2, especially when driving it enthusiastically. I would not dare push the Vee as far as my Trophy for example; it would bite me and I'm not sure I'd have the talent / ability to keep it in check (and, as it's not my car, I wouldn't want to take silly risks anyway!) But you do feel the additional weight and the feeling that the back end wants to slide out when cornering on tighter and/or higher speed bends. You also become aware of how light the front end is and how much severe rain (aquaplaning) and heavy winds can affect the car; more so than I find in the Trophy. But that's not a bad thing; keep it sensible and it is an incredibly engaging drive, even in my hands. In the hands of someone with talent and who knows how to get the most from it (i.e. Fred) I would imagine it's rather leery and fun. It's interesting enough in all this rain and morning ice/frosts we are having! Being RWD it gets away nicely (assuming you don't break traction) and it's nicely responsive higher up the speedo (where 1*2's are starting to struggle a bit). It's not massively quicker than a 1*2 (if at all in mere mortal's hands) but it's a lot, LOT more special.

I took my dad out for a spin in it at Christmas. He's well into his 70's. I've not seen him grin like that in a long time. Even if it was a bit of struggle to get in and out...

You've just made me even more jealous :(
If only I wasn't so poor :(
if I ever happen to come into a nice bit of money a v6 is first on my list they look incredible, quite a rare car on the roads so it brings in all the attention
Cant believe how jealous I feel right now :(

You do know its £1 per mile?? ;)
Erm... try to see it as a favour mate. I'm running the gearbox in for you... It's nearly there. Another couple of thousand miles should do it... :p

Need to book my car in and hope :) broken arm is just a bonus ;)
 Customer care is off the scale mate!

+1.

We should all chip in and get a south wales group clio V6!
Naturally I'd be more than happy to be chief custodian of such vehicle. I'll keep it safe at my place for free as long as everybody else chipped in for running and maintenance costs, etc. I can't say fairer than that. :approve:

LOL! I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem mate. Tenner gets you a viewing, twenty quid gets you a sit in the passenger seat, fifty quid gets you a ride up and down one junction of dual carriageway! :clown:

Joking aside, I am actually free Saturday afternoon.

Despite my address stating I live in Newport, I don't really know it that well as I'm not a local lad (I've only been here for - ooh - 4 years). I was miles away in Caerphilly prior to that! But yeah, I'm sure we could meet up somewhere. I'm coming from Rogerstone - which is Junction 28 of the M4. Which way would you be coming in from?

Ah, got you mate - thanks for the map link. So... meet you in that car park at what time? I'm not far away so pick a convenient time for yourself.

dogging AGAIN! Poor car :(
Whatever it takes to fund this superb car mate... whatever it takes... :quiet: But it will be very much 'you can look, but don't touch'.

If the weather forecast is to be believed then it might not happen yet. Or we'll be meeting up in dinghys and Speedos.

That's a trek that, South Wales to Birmingham, Guess its worth it to get a V6 out of it :D

It really isn't. Took me around 90 minutes to get to freds once including stopping at the services.
Totally agree with Matt - it's not too far at all mate. You'd do it in 90 minutes too from Cwmbran. Probably a little less. Definitely worth travelling to make use of the services of the reputable specialists trading on here. The V6 was a bit of a bonus though! It sure beats a hire car!
