Blackberry Pearl

  Revels Mum & Sister
Anyone got one of these. The newer slim one. I think its the 8100 or something

Views on them?

got it... best phone i've ever had. Seriously.

Does everything i need it to. Hasd loadsa bullshit data phones before that claimed to do this that and the other... but never used em. This actually works...
All my emails come within seconds of being sent... MSN is perfect, Google maps and all that schpleele..
Only downsides are no 3G internet.. and no video camera which is weird.

Only problem with havin it is that i know expect my phone to be able to do a set amount of things... so my upgrade will be interesting come ~July.

I've got one, it's a bit gash to be honest mate,

Good points :

Slim
Looks awesome

Bad points :

Battery life is woeful
Bluetooth won't connect to anything properly (headsets etc)
The phone book is a pain to use
It's an arse to find your way around
etc...

We're trialling a Blackberry Curve at the mo which is due out in a month or so, I'd wait for that.

Video Camera doesnt bother me.

I have T-Mobile Web & Walk would it work with that? I dont really get a 3G signal much anyway LOL

Can it do MP3 ringtones or just polyphonic?

After reading Dansta's post i'll say it's good if you want something to replace a blackberry AND phone

I was happier with my old blackberry with larger screen and a seperate phone.

It does MP3 ringtones, but rings about 2 times before the sound starts, so a bit cack

Dafthead is the new one portable like the Pearl? I dont like the fullsize qwerty ones they are just WAY to big.

Bluetooth may be a problem as it would HAVE to work with a Parrot In car kit. Thats a must.

Battery life hmmm not so much of an issue having owned a 8800 which doesnt have a battery life

Do you mean as in it vibrates before playing the track or plays a bogo tune and then the MP3 tone

The curve is a qwerty keyboard but much closer together so not much bigger than the pearl.

What i mean is, when someone rings, by the time the phone has actually started ringing, it's already gone through two rings on the callers end, so you end up with about 3-4 seconds of your tune before it goes to voicemail.

I've never got it to connect to my 02 blue headset, or to my laptop, it also won't send or recieve to other phones via bluetooth, we've got a load of them at work and they're all having the same issues.

Thing is though, you may love it, get into the 02 store and have a play with one mate

Yeah will give it a blast. Thing is if it doesnt work with the Parrot kit then I cant really have it. I dont want to carry two phones.

May see if I can skag one from somewhere to try! Cheers for the write up :)

yeah vibrates then rings... i had to get used to that... i didnt like it.

Bluetooth works perfectly for me. Connects automatically to my pioneer unit in my car all the time...
It has some security features within the bluetooth which means if somenone sends you something you have to tell your to receive it first if that makes sense, but for cars and headsets mines been fine.

i went from a nokia 8800 too which owned on battery... i find my battery is fine... lasts two days with heavy use.
3 days at normal.

it'll be like a lifetime after the 8800 lol

i find no probs with phonebook, just need to get used to it... its like gettin a mac after windows initially, you grow to love it.

i had this issue to begin with... and found out from some blackberry forums that its just a security feature... i might have even posted on here to begin with.... lol
wouldnt connect to my mac or other peoples phones.
