Blagging a better 02 contract on upgrade time?

  6/468 17poo
Ive heard of people doing this, basically im paying 35 for 500 anytime mins and 100 txt which is s**t imo!

So whats the best way to blag a better contract when i upgrade, can you do this in the shop or have i gotta do it by phone?

Cheers Ryan

Phone up the retentions department and ask for your PAC code, you wish to change to a different provider on a better contract. They should then ask you what contract/phone you have been offered, at this point make something up which sounds believable. All going well they will match or beat the deal you say you have got.

I'm on 750 xnet anytime mins & 750 texts per month for £20.

move to diff network

i used to blag some ace deals with o2 but last time they were being s**t.

now on orange 35 a month, 550mins anytime, unlimited txts, sony ericsson k800i.

Im paying £25 a month 4 500 txts and 100 mins, just depends what your looking for :)

lol. my last deal with o2 was 500 txts, and 300mins off peak mins for 10er a month..

that contracts still on the go for another 7months but i kept going over the txts and a few on peak calls were costing me so started a new contract with orange.

I don't think you can get better value anywhere in comparison to the retention dept offers at o2.

Coolio anyone got the number, 12months runs out on the 16th dec, plus the other thing is that i dont really want a 18month contract as the phone takes a battering lol

simple. drop it in a puddle of water. send it away to be replaced.

dont ever even bother trying to get a better deal with vodafone. their moto should be 'new customers only' & even their staff admit that. Whent into store and asked them if the could do me something more suitable than i currently had and the bloke said " just cancel it and start as a new customer. your 3 years loyalty means nothing to vodafone tbh"

just moan on at o2 saying you can get a free psp at dialaphone. I said I was considering cancelling my contract and they knocked £10 off per month. Got the phone I was after, and only 12 month contract!

Insist on a 12 month contract and you'll be ok :)

Customer service number if bought from a store: 0870 586 0860

CS Online: 0870 600 3009

Retentions: 0870 600 7102

Yeah that's exactly what a pac code is. Don't cancel but request the code so that you can move away and ensure they know that you are moving away.

so..... say if they give it me will it still cancel the contract?or will they not give it me so i stay on there network?

  Citroen DS3 DSport
They've never once given me a pac code, the retention department are not there to lose customers. If you really did get unlucky then the code is only valid for 30 days and if it is not used your contract continues as normal.

So long as you speak to retentions and not the customer service fools then you will be ok.

Who was that deal with??

I pay £35 for 200 anytime mins and 500 txts with O2

i pay £24 for 500 mins and 500 texts with O2..... i got an early upgrade after 9 months in my first year and then another after 10 months in my second year.

I just said i'd seen some offers for free phones and a better tariff and the girl in retentions looked at what i was spending and put me on this tariff which also included 20% off for loyalty

the price you were quoted.... unfortunately o2's policy now is that prices of phones can't be discounted, only the price of the tariff, so you get savings over the year. your upgrade goes on your average monthly spend for the last 6 months, if you lowish spend on a tariff that is low (means you can't discount it that much) then your better off disconnecting then re connecting.

I take it your a select customer. which is achieved if your total bill exceeds 50 quid for 6 months in a row.

You can usually get the handset cheaper by having the retention staff mess about with tariff discounts etc and then credit the discounts onto your account. They may not offer discounts on the handset specifically but it is possible to have them do so indirectly.

no my phone bill was only ever nudging 35 quid for a couple of months, mostly though it was just about what it should have been for the online 200 tariff, 30 quid

when ringing retentions you get a choice to go through to upgrade, cancel contract or customer service, what 1 is best to go through and ask 4 pac code so i can get best deal?? im ringin up @ lunch.
